NECSA engages in commercial business mainly through its two 100% owned commercial subsidiaries NTP Radioisotopes (Pty) Ltd. And Pelchem (Pty) Ltd. NTP is responsible for a range of radiation-based products and services for health care, life sciences and industry, whilst Pelchem supplies fluorine and fluorine-based products. Job Profile:
To provide effective and efficient financial and advisory services to the Necsa Group mainly assisting in preparation of company AFS as well as Consolidation in line with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), the PFMA read with Treasury Regulations and Companies Act and good Financial Governance.
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Process Management:
● Assist in Preparation Annual Financial Statements and Consolidation in IFRS using Caseware for the statutory audit purposes to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements within the given timeframes;
● Consolidate and review all compliance reports for the Necsa Group for monthly financial reporting to the EXCO to ensure compliance to Management Reporting;
● Consolidate and review Salient Features Quarterly Report to the Necsa Board of Directors to ensure compliance to Management Reporting and PFMA requirements;
● Prepare in Microsoft Excel Medium Term Expenditure Committee (MTEC), Estimates of National Expenditure( ENE) financial related reports requested by National Treasury and the Department of Minerals, Resources and Energy (DMRE) to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements;
● Prepare and Report on internal and external audit findings to the Audit & Risk Committee to ensure the accurate reporting on findings and resolutions are presented and recommended to the Necsa Board;
● Co-ordinate the consolidation of the Necsa Group Budget that gets incorporated to Corporate Plan to ensure Necsa complies with PFMA and regulatory requirements;
● Advise on Value-added tax matters to Necsa departments to ensure the best possible tax options are utilised for planned projects where applicable and
● Adhoc tasks as and when applicable.

About Vaalputs 
Vaalputs established in 1986 as the national, near surface, radioactive waste disposal facility that serves South Africa’s needs for disposing of low-level radioactive waste generated by nuclear industrials. It is situated in the Northern Cape about 100km south of Springbok, and is currently managed and operated by Nuclear Liabilities Management department (NLM) of Necsa. The National Radioactive Waste Disposal Institute (NRWDI) is in the process of obtaining a nuclear installation license for Vaalputs and, once this has been accomplished, the incumbent will be reporting within the NRWDI structures.
 
Job Profile:
The main purpose of the job is to:
  • Implement the facility radiation protection programme;
  • Assist with compliance to licence conditions, SHEQ-INS-requirements, and in turn compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements; and
  • Assist with development, maintenance and implementation of radiation protection and safety documents.
 
Key tasks and responsibilities 
  • Execution of radiation protection duties under direct supervision.
  • Job safety evaluation in order to identify, assess, control and protect personnel against radiological hazards.
  • Monitoring of personnel exposure to radiation.
  • Monitoring of the workplace radiological risk.
  • Completely and accurate maintain record of radiation results from workplace and personnel monitoring, and timeously be reported to the RPO.
  • Provides radiation protection support during emergencies.
  • Invigilate and monitor radiation protection related activities in the facility.
  • Preparation of radiation protection work permits for radiation protection related activities in the facility.
  • Prescription of appropriate personal protective equipment, and ensure they are correctly used.
  • Assist and take initiatives to promote safety culture in the facility.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of a facility radiation protection programme and provide feedback to the RPO.
  • Continuous development through self-study, attendance of colloquia, courses and training sessions in order to remain relevant and up-to-date in the field radiation protection.
