Description
The Logistics Officer – Receiving and/or Dispatch is responsible for the effective coordination and execution of daily logistics operations, particularly in the receiving and dispatching areas. The incumbent ensures smooth product flow, accurate stock handling, compliance with safety and quality standards, and timely support to production, in alignment with company systems and schedules.
 
Key Performance Areas
 
Production/Packing
  • Oversee the receiving and offloading of incoming products and materials.
  • Ensure all products are clean, oil-free, and not dented before acceptance.
  • Identify received products and verify delivery notes for compliance with actual product and quantities delivered.
  • Assign batch numbers to products and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
  • Capture and consign delivered products into relevant company systems accurately and promptly.
  • Plan storage of incoming products prior to scheduling them for production use.
  • Complete stock sheet forms and reports as required for inventory tracking and control.
  • Ensure the correct product and quantities are packed in accordance with the schedule to avoid production delays.
  • Check that quality standards are met during the packing process, prior to fluorination.
  • Coordinate with the Production Coordinator to ensure smooth handover of materials for processing.
  • Liaise with clients during the receiving and dispatching of products to ensure proper documentation, clarity, and efficient turnaround times.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as assigned that may fall outside the normal scope of logistics operations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics performance and service delivery.
 
People Management
  • Manage personnel within the receiving/dispatch area to ensure optimal performance and adherence to task deadlines.
  • Ensure that staff are adequately trained in the use of all relevant plant systems and procedures related to receiving, storage, and dispatch.
 
Compliance with SHEQ requirements
  • Adhere strictly to occupational safety regulations and company policies in all logistics operations.
  • Ensure that PPE is worn correctly and is in good condition at all times.
  • Report sub-standard equipment and safety issues immediately to the relevant authority.
  • Promote a culture of safety and quality throughout the logistics function.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
 
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
  • National Certificate/ Grade 12 / Standard 10/ Trade certificate or equivalent to (NQF 4) with mathematics subject;
  • A valid Forklift license will be an added advantage;
  • A valid Overhead Crane license will be an added advantage.
 
Minimum Experience: 
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, or a dispatch/receiving environment;
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or chemical plant environment will be advantageous;
  • Familiarity with inventory control systems and batch management processes; 
  • Basic supervisory or team-leading experience is will be advantageous.

Job profile:
Responsible for the implementation and facilitation of technical skills development training programmes to participants in their area of specialisation including assessment of participants, administration per NLA and accrediting authority requirements and ensure optimal utilisation of all allocated resources.
 
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Develop and maintain allocated resources
  • Identify and report training equipment defects and ensure that they are always operational and available for training purposes.
  • Ensure that there are always sufficient training consumables through implementation of appropriate stock control processes.

Implementation of training intervention
  • Prepare appropriate and relevant training equipment for programmes offered.

Description
Job Purpose
Direct research in the field of Applied Chemistry (AC) and DEE/non-DEE funded programmes/projects in line with relevant SHEQ and regulatory requirements. Manage external e.g. DSI/TIA funded platforms to deliver cutting edge research results in international peer-reviewed publications and patents to position new products for commercialisation. Oversee and plan in terms of human resources, budget and projects. Establish contacts with key stakeholders and manage accordingly. Manage this department at general management level in line with the requirements of a nuclear facility manager and take responsibility for strategic planning and management of execution thereof. Oversee the management of technology progressing through the technology readiness levels.
 
Key Performance Areas Strategic management
  • Planning, organising, leading, motivating, controlling and communicate to ensure alignment with strategic objectives within the AC department.
  • Draft departmental budget and monitor execution of approved budgets.
  • Investigate and incorporate cost saving measures where possible.

  • Oversee and be accountable for HR management of permanent and temporary AC workers. This includes professional development succession planning, pipeline development and implementation of the performance management.
Technical management
  • Provide scientific, technological and engineering strategy, oversight and guidance to the AC teams.
  • Manage a growing number of non-DEE fund programmes and projects based on technology platforms of Fluorine technology; Nuclear Fuel Cycle (NFC) activities including nuclear waste management; Plasma technology and Nuclear Materials.
  • Lead the establishment and negotiation of these programmes/projects.
  • Manage and oversee Technical and Scientific technologies of the technology platforms of NFC chemistry, Fluorine technology Plasma Technology and Nuclear Materials which support the Impact Areas of Materials Beneficiation, Clean Energy and Waste. This includes IP protection and commercialisation.
  • Establish a technology platform to support Necsa’s envisaged growth in NFC activities.
  • Act as the technology custodian of chemical processes/products developed at Necsa and utilise this integrated knowledge to form new project teams and commercially exploited historic IP
  • Initiate different Stage 1 D&D projects for R&I, executed by Applied Chemistry personnel.
Process management
  • Within the R&I structure to facilitate its continuous operations.
  • Act as NFM for all AC facilities to facilitate continuity of operations.
  • Provide guidance on IP management/policy.
  • Initiate and exploit different vehicles for pipeline development for R&I.
  • People Management.
  • Ensure staff is adequately trained to conduct their duties.
  • Develop a succession plan to build succession for critical roles within the department.
  • Develop a transformation plan according to the Group’s talent objectives.
  • Oversee directly or indirectly the day-to-day human resource activities of Applied Chemistry.
Strategic Management
  • Conduct the strategic planning of Applied Chemistry in line with NECSA directives.
