ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR
A challenging vacancy currently exists for an Activity Coordinator at Addo Elephant National Park. The successful candidate will have to be a highly motivated individual with the necessary skills and expertise to take immediate control of all relevant activities within the park and will report to the Tourism Manager.

Requirements
- B. Tech Nature Conservation/Tourism/Ecotourism
- 4 years doing tourism based activities and business management, while guiding for at least 3 years in a dangerous game area.
- DEAT Registration (Nature Site Guide)
- Valid EC (Code 10) Driver’s License
- PDP (Valid Public Drivers Permit).
- THETA Nature Site Guide (Dangerous Game Area) TGD/NSGDGm/4/0037 NQF Level 4 certificate (must include View Potentially Dangerous Game Unit Standard)
- Sound knowledge of fauna & flora.
- Bilingual (English & Afrikaans).
- Valid First Aid certificate level 1.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation. (NEMPAA; National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act, Tourism Second Amendment Act; Occupational Health and Safety Act and Fire Arms Control Act)
- Interpersonal, computer literacy and administration skills
- Assessor, Training Accreditation and experience in Hospitality Management will be an added advantage
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to conduct a short game drive within Addo Elephant National Park as part of their practical test
- The successful candidate will have to write and pass the recognised Addo exam before operating within the park.
Responsibilities
- To develop and implement a guided activities strategy and business plan
- To ensure the training and development of Field Guides
- To ensure compliance of the guided activities and the standards thereof.
- To provide logistical support and coordination
- To perform Duty Manager shifts and duties
- To develop and implement guiding procedures
- To develop and implement new guiding procedures and activities
- To ensure Park activities are managed in a financially viable manner
- To ensure adherence to customer service standards according to organizational requirements
- To lead and develop the Human Capitol of the unit
- To ensure sound financial management

INTERNSHIP: GROEN SEBENZA PHASE II PROGRAMME
The Groen Sebenza Phase II Programme is a bridging into a work programme funded for three years. GS Phase II aims to recruit 1050 unemployed graduates (diploma – PhD level) and place them nationally in different organisations (government and non-governmental) where they will be incubated (trained and mentored) to further develop their competence and confidence in the management of environment/biodiversity.
The programme goals
- Enable workplace-based learning for graduates aimed at building and strengthening their capacity at various levels.
- Creation of job opportunities and possible permanent placement beyond funding.
- Transformation and organisational strengthening – strengthen different organisational development aspects including transformation in its totality, mentoring, proactive skills and planning to better respond to organisational mandates and other national priorities.
- Research informed – through research, develop a ‘live’ skills intelligence system that will enable the sector to proactively plan for skills development and track and trace the utilisation of the developed skills.
SANParks in partnership with The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is pleased to announce a call for applications for incubation in the following fields:
