HANDYMAN
Park: Table Mountain National Park
 
Description:
A vacancy currently exists for a Handyman at Table Mountain National Park. The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson B2 job grade and allowances and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service of SANParks. The successful candidate will have to provide their own accommodation as there is no official accommodation in the park.
 
Requirements:
  • Grade 12
  • Electrical, Aircon, Refrigerator, Plumbing or related Trade Certificate would be an added advantage.
  • Code 10 driver's license with PDP
  • A minimum of three (3) years of practical experience in a technical/maintenance field.
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, electrical maintenance and equipment repairs
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

  • Ability to work under pressure and under unfavourable conditions

Responsibilities:
  • Physically carrying out relevant maintenance semi-skilled tasks such as repairs, plumbing, welding, maintenance of air conditioners and refrigerators, electrical works, and civil works in accordance with predetermined quality and productivity standards.
  • Routine maintenance of tourist buildings, terrain, staff accommodation, ablution blocks, administration and other infrastructures services e.g. electricity, boreholes pumps, sewer systems, buildings and equipment, as well as assisting with inspection of maintenance contractors' work.
  • Daily recording of maintenance works performed and maintenance needs.
  • Transporting equipment, materials and staff and conducting vehicle inspections.
  • Storekeeping and inventory of tools and equipment.
  • Assisting with the planning, scheduling and execution of technical tasks.
  • Ordering of stock and assisting with supply chain processes.
  • Basic housekeeping and other ad-hoc task identified by supervisor.
  • Assisting with general administrative tasks such as the recording of stock and inventory, completion of time sheets, log sheets, leave forms and other month-end statistics.

PROJECT MANAGER - BIODIVERSITY SOCIAL PROJECTS UNIT
Park: Tankwa Karoo National Park
 
Description:
A challenging vacancy currently exists for a Project Manager at Tankwa Karoo National Park. It is isolated with the closest settlement and shops 130 km from the Park. The area is sparsely populated and interested applicants must be prepared for living in isolation. It is therefore recommended that candidates ascertain the living and working conditions before applying.
The above position is a fixed-term contract position up to 31 March 2024, renewable on mutual agreement. It is on a C4 Paterson Salary Band total remuneration package of R 21 255.90 as the incumbent will stay inside the Park. No Tool of Trade allowance, as a project vehicle, will be made available for work purposes.
The successful candidate will have to sign a lease to occupy staff accommodation inside the Park.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a Tourism related field for 10 to 15 years.

Requirements:
