COMMIS CHEF (RE-ADVERTISED)
Park: Golden Gate Highlands National Park
Description:
A vacancy currently exists for a Commi Chef at the Golden Gate Hotel in Golden Gate Highlands National Park. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chef De Partie and his/her primary responsibility will be to manage the designated area in the kitchen.
The remuneration package includes a basic salary, based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson B3 job grade, allowances and benefits will be as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service of SANParks. The successful candidate will be required to sign a lease agreement as official accommodation will be provided inside the park.
Requirements:
- NQF level 4 Certificate in Pastry or Professional Cookery or Equivalent
- 3 years of experience in similar position
- Good communication skills in English
- Interaction with guests
- Should enjoy working with people
- Should be able to work long hours
- Basic understanding of Occupational Health and Safety in a kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that the designated station is properly staffed, set up and operating as scheduled, and stocked up with supplies for the next day's menu and in accordance with anticipated meal counts.
- Effective daily management of the pastry kitchen in line with senior chef instruction.
- Preparation of new and assigned menu items including bread, pastries, desserts, and food items in the designated station, ensuring the right quantity as per standardised recipes and full adherence to SANPARKS standards in quality and the SOP's.
- Knowledgeable of all dietary requirements.
- Effectively dealing with any operational issues that may arise, ensuring standards are not affected.
- Assisting in other sections of the kitchen as and when needed.
- Participating in perpetual, monthly, and yearly stock-taking
- Applying and understanding corrective actions regarding Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Guaranteeing safety, hygiene and sanitation is practised and present through inspecting designated stations on a regular basis, this includes safe storing and packing of raw materials, and ensuring the cleanliness of all areas in the designated workplace.
- Receives items and ensures proper storage until needed.
- Assuring adherence to SOP regarding HACCP, food quality, preparation, recipes, and presentation at all times.
- Ensuring preventative maintenance of all equipment is continuous and they are in safe working condition and reported immediately.

REGIONAL TECHNICAL OFFICER
Park: Kruger National Park
Description:
An exciting and permanent position exists for a Regional Technical Officer under the Technical services Nxanatseni region. The successful candidate will report directly to the Regional Technical Manager.
The Cost to Employer remuneration package is based on the salary scale of a position with a Paterson C4 job grade and allowances and benefits as specified in the HR Tariff Document and conditions of Services of SANParks. The successful candidate will have to stay in official accommodation inside the park.
Requirements:
- National Diploma in Built environment or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years experience in Building construction and maintenance, 3 years must be on-site supervisory level.
- Computer literacy with working knowledge of MS Office package
- Working knowledge of Protected Areas Act, National Building Regulations, CIDB Regulations and SANS Codes/
- Experience on Bulk water reticulation systems, reservoirs, pumps and related control equipment, Sewer systems, construction of septic tanks and soak aways, will save as an advantage.
- Eco tourism Infrastructure maintenance experience will save as an advantage
- Advanced knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations;
- Sound financial background
- Good communication, liaison and negotiation skills;
- Project Management skills
- Own vehicle and Valid Driver's License (min code 8/B).
Responsibilities:
- To ensure that all the infrastructure is maintained and operational to the required SANParks standard.

- To ensure that all construction and maintenance operations are in compliance with SANS building regulations.
- Enforcement of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- To conduct regular quality inspections and ensure the efficient functioning of the water plant, sewer plant, waste site and electrical fences etc.
- To ensure Compliance with Licensing Agreements applicable on waste site operations, sewer ponds licence and swimming pools.
- To conduct regular quality inspections, schedules and checks on infrastructure including firefighting systems, and camp fences and keep records including organizing the repairing of any damages.
- To assist and give support to the maintenance officers and camp management with regard to infrastructure maintenance.
- To ensure quality assurance and quality control on all construction of building and civil works.
- To assist the Technical Manager in the compilation of renovations plans including budgets.
- To identify job training for Trade workers and general workers, supervise and administer the section.
- To ensure that all maintenance operations are performed within the approved budget.
- To liaise with trade representatives, technicians and specialists;

CONSERVATION MANAGER
Park: Addo Elephant National Park
Description:
A challenging vacancy currently exists for a Conservation Manager at Addo Elephant National Park. The successful candidate will have to be a highly motivated individual with the necessary skills and expertise to take immediate control of all Conservation related matters in the park and will report to the Park Manager.
The remuneration package includes an all-inclusive cost to company salary, based on the scale of a position with a Paterson D4 job grade, allowances and benefits as specified in the HR tariff document and Conditions of Services of SANParks. The successful candidate will be accommodated in official accommodation in the Park and must be prepared to work over weekends.
Requirements:
- Degree in Nature conservation or Environmental sciences, supported by at least 10 years practical experience as a Section Ranger, in Big 5 area.
- Have a working knowledge of relevant Environmental legislation such as the Protected Areas Act, Biodiversity Act, Conservation of Agricultural Resources Act and National Water Act.
- Relevant experience in dealing with cross-boundary neighbour interaction, both nationally and Internationally.
- Knowledge of the Public Financial Management Act and Financial management experience.
- Be fully computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages such as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and First Aid.
- Be in possession of a valid code 08 driver's licence.
- Management, report writing, planning and leadership skills, as well as excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Qualified as a Peace officer.
- Firearm competence and the ability to use a wide range of firearms are necessary.
- Appointment as an Environmental Management Inspector (EMI) will serve as an added advantage.
- A high level of general fitness and mental alertness is required in this position.
- No criminal record - screening will be conducted. Honesty/integrity screening will also be conducted.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain territorial integrity which includes law enforcement, collection, collation, interpretation and evaluation of information, natural processes and phenomena in the park and adjacent areas and communities
- Oversee biodiversity conservation and wilderness protection in compliance with relevant national legislation. This includes conservation matters such as Marine management, EIA's, veld fires, wildlife populations, damage causing and problem animals, rivers and water provision, Frontier Conservation Area matters, Biodiversity Social Projects (including alien biota, ecosystem restoration and bush clearing) and record-keeping/reporting.
- Ensure cooperation and synergy between Addo Elephant National Park, Provincial and Local Government conservation bodies and Community conservation areas adjacent to the Park as far as conservation matters are concerned.
- Build and maintain good communication and relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including tourism stakeholders.
- Implement and administer approved Conversation policies according to agreed management and operational plans and stipulations of relevant legislation.
- Natural resources management including the management and eradication of invasive alien plants, alien animals and unnatural soil erosion.
- Financial management, which includes the preparation of budgets and daily financial administration of own section.
- Human resources management and administration of own section.
- Participate in activities and provide inputs on environmental matters in the control area of the national park, including Environmental Impact Assessments and any other issues that might affect the park.
- Implement law enforcement and maintain effectively but sound Human resources and Administration management.
- Ensure 100% compliance with PFMA Act, Supply Chain Management and all necessary legislation.
- Negotiate and co-management of the contractual conservation environment agreements.
- Coordination of Honorary Rangers activities in the Park.
- Coordination, management and supervision of Conservation activities in the Park including management of EMPs.
