MANAGING EXECUTIVE: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Description:
Fixed-term contract for five years; Paterson Grading F (lower)
The Organisation requires the services of a Managing Executive: Kruger National Park. This position will be based at Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga. This position will report directly to the CEO.
 
Requirements:
  • Relevant 4 year qualification in Commerce/Business Management/Conservation/Science/Tourism.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Commerce/Business Management/Conservation/Science/Tourism.
  • A Masters degree in Commerce/Business Management/Conservation/Science/Tourism may be an advantage.
  • Senior Executive Management experience in a relevant field for a period of at least 10 to 12 years.
  • Financial Management and Commercial skills.
  • A sound understanding of legislative framework including corporate governance.
  • Ability to manage diversity within a complex environment.
  • Knowledge of the Conservation and Tourism industry.
  • Strategic planning and leadership skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a Strategy for the Kruger National Park supported by an efficient and effective organizational structure.
  • Develop a new business model for Kruger National Park.
  • Lead transformation and change management at Kruger National Park.
  • Effective engagement with all stakeholders including Land claimants and communities around Kruger National Park.
  • Enhance Tourism products and commercialization.
  • Ensure the implementation of sound Corporate Governance structures.
  • Effective management of Infrastructure and facilities maintenance and management.
  • Ensure effective management of environmental crime.
  • Enhance and effective financial management within Public Finance Management Framework.
  • Effective Management of all support functions.

Requirements:
  • Be in possession of a Legal degree (B Juris, B Proc, LLB) and an Admitted Attorney.
  • 10 years of experience in the legal field of which five years should be in a managerial role.
  • Five years of administrative law-related experience (PAIA and PAJA), PFMA, Labour Law and Interpretation of statutes.

CURATOR - MAPUNGUBWE INTERPRETATION CENTRE
Park: Mapungubwe National Park
 
Description:
A Challenging vacancy currently exists for a Curator in Mapungubwe National Park and World Heritage Site. The successful candidate will have to be a highly motivated individual with the necessary skills and experience to take control of the SANParks museum collections in the Mapungubwe National Park and those that are under the custodianship of partner institutions will report to the Park Manager and Senior for Cultural Heritage. Applicants should be willing to travel.
 
The remuneration package includes an all-inclusive cost to company salary, based on the scale of a position with a Paterson C job grade, allowances and benefits as specified in the HR tariff Document and Conditions of Services of SANParks.
 
Requirements:
  • Degree in Social Sciences/Museum Studies/History/Archaeology with at least 3 - 5 years of collections management or curatorial experience in a museum or similar institution.
  • Postgraduate Diploma or Degree in Cultural Heritage/ Museum/History/Archaeology/Archive studies will be an added advantage.
  • A sound knowledge of Heritage Objects and Museum management
  • Computer Literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft packages such as MSWord and MS Excel.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Good report writing skills
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license Code 08.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the management, preservation, conservation, safety, acquisition, disposal, interpretation and presentation of the Mapungubwe Interpretation Centre collection in line with the local and internationally accepted museum standards.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and plans for conservation of museum collections, with input from relevant other officials.
  • To collect objects associated with the history of the park in order to ensure a wide ranging in-depth cultural heritage collection.
  • To maintain an up to date inventory and proper storage of the park's heritage objects.
  • To research and document new entries to the collection in order to enhance their heritage and cultural significance. Ensure proper and safe handling as well as storage and ownership of artefacts.
  • To facilitate and oversee the design, preparation and installation of exhibitions related to cultural heritage.
  • To facilitate research on and access to heritage collections.
  • To manage relationships with third-party institutions that curate heritage objects that originates from Mapungubwe National Park.
  • Lead, develop and manage the Financial and Human Capital related to the position.

GENERAL MANAGER: CORPORATE FINANCE
Park: Groenkloof (Head Office)
 
Description:
The Organisation requires the services of a General Manager: Corporate Finance in the Chief Financial Officers Division. This position will be based at Groenkloof National Park, Pretoria.
 
Requirements:
  • Be in possession of a B.Com degree and an Honours Degree in Financial Management or similar graduate qualifications.
  • The successful candidate is required to be a certified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or be registered as a Professional Accountant with the South African Institute of Professional Accountants.
  • Should have 7 - 9 years experience in senior manager finance, financial accounting, auditing, general management, budgeting.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation (GAAP, PFMA).
  • Knowledge of Accountancy.
  • Knowledge of taxation (PAYE & Vat).
  • Knowledge of IT and ERP systems (Experience of working with Great Plains Financial package or other financial accounting packages).
