Description:
The above position is a fixed-term contract position up to 31 March 2024 renewable on mutual agreement. This position is on a C4 Paterson Salary Band total remuneration package of R 26,828.95 as the incumbent will stay outside the park. The incumbent will also receive a Tool of Trade allowance of R4 313.97 (must be a suitable vehicle) pending approval as per SANParks Delegation Framework.

Requirements:
- National Diploma in Conservation or Environmental Management
- Minimum of 2 years project management experience
- 2 to 3 years of experience in rehabilitation techniques is essential for this position
- 2 to 3 years of experience in health and safety management and compliance
- Computer literacy in MS Office packages
- Code 08 driver's license
Responsibilities:
- Operational planning and assist with strategic planning for the project
- Managing of the projects according to organisational standards
- Managing human resources and logistics within the project
- Management of administrative and financial processes of the project
- Communication and liaison with stakeholders
- Compilation of weekly and monthly reports
- Monthly SHEQ compliance and reporting
- Conduct self-assessments and prepare project audits
- Ensure mapping and data recording for the project linked to activities
- Ensure all relevant data is captured for the project

PRACTITIONER RISK MANAGEMENT
Park: Groenkloof (Head Office)
Description:
SANParks requires the services of a Practitioner Risk Management in the Chief Operating Officers Division. This position will be based in the Groenkloof National Park, Pretoria.
Requirements:
- Be in possession of a Degree/Diploma (NQF 7) as recognized by SAQA in Risk Management/Internal Auditing/Finance or equivalent.
- Should have a minimum of 3 - 5 years of work experience in the Enterprise Risk Management Environment.
- Knowledge of Public Sector Risk Management Framework.
- Knowledge of the PFMA and Treasury Regulations.
- Knowledge of the organisational and government structures.
- Knowledge of principles and practice of enterprise risk management.
- Knowledge of internal control and assurance.

Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and review of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework, Policy and Strategy.
- Contribute to the development and review of the Business Continuity Management governance documents.
- Develop awareness material in accordance with the ERM Communication Plan to enhance the risk culture in SANParks.
- Provide administrative assistance during the quarterly Enterprise Risk Management Steering Committee (ERMSC) meetings.
- Facilitate review of Risk Appetite Statement to align with reviewed strategic risk register.
- Coordinate engagement with relevant assurance providers to assist in the development, review and reporting of the Combined Assurance Plan.
- Facilitate operational risk assessment workshops for business units and National Parks.
- Provide general risk awareness and training during engagement and workshops with business units and National Parks.
- Assist with identifying, analysing and evaluating risks.
- Maintain the strategic and operational risk register database.
- Assist with the identification of risk treatment options.
- Assist with conducting business impact analysis and development of business continuity plans.
- Quarterly reporting to EXCO on the status of the operational risk registers and risk assessments conducted.
- Assist with quarterly reporting to the EXCO, ARC and Board in terms of implementation of ERM Maturity Improvement and Annual Implementation Plan.
- Monitoring implementation of mitigation actions of operational risks.
- Conduct annual assessments on the effectiveness of mitigation actions.
- Contribute to the development and monitoring of the implementation of ERM Maturity Improvement and Annual Implementation Plan.
Salary: R 364 893 - R 596 000

ENVIRONMENTAL MONITOR
Park: Groenkloof (Head Office)
Description:
An EPWP employment opportunity currently exists for one unarmed Environmental Monitor within Groenkloof National Park. The above-mentioned position is a fixed-term contract up to the end of 31 March 2025.
The appointed participant or Environmental Monitor will be paid a wage rate of R311.00 per day as per Expanded Public Works Programme rates.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in security and law enforcement
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation in the security industry
- Understanding basic principles of Health and Safety
- No criminal record - SAPS verification will be done
- Valid PSIRA Security Certificates
- Must be in good physical health
- Willing to work weekends if required
- Ability to do long and extended patrols when required
Responsibilities:
- Conduct effective patrols and execute security operations, through deployment, observation posts and night patrol if required;
- Assist with the control of visitor behaviour, safety and access control at the entrance gate;
- Gather information for the implementation of management plans through the use of electronic devices;
- Assist with prescribed burns and Veld Fire Suppression(s);
- Participate in research projects;
- Assist with the control of EPWP/BSP contractors' movement within the park;
- General maintenance of all conservation assets (including infrastructure and terrain near visitor facilities);
- Assist with stock and plant counts
- Assist with fire break maintenance around the complex.
