GEF 6 STEWARDSHIP SUPERVISORS (3 POSITIONS)

Description:
Three vacancies exist for GEF 6 Stewardship Supervisors, Kruger National Park. The positions will be stationed within the broader Mutele/Makuya, Belfast/Cork, and Matsulu/Lupisi clusters. The successful candidates will be reporting to the GEF 6 Programme Coordinator, Kruger National Park.
Fixed Term Contract: 3 years
 
The position is expected to stay outside the park since there is no accommodation, hence the package is inclusive of housing allowance.
The incumbent will be paid a Cell Phone Allowance amounting to R600.00 per month.
 
Purpose of the Job:
To provide supervisory support to the GEF 6 programme activities and Fence Stewardship programme. The GEF 6 programme is a partnership programme, which seeks to reduce illegal wildlife crime, whilst supporting community governance and livelihood interventions in three community clusters bordering the Greater Kruger protected area network.
 
 
Requirements:
  • A post-graduate tertiary qualification in environmental/natural resource management or similar would be advantageous.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in conservation projects and liaison with local communities, and implementation within rural contexts
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in project management.
  • Conflict Resolution Management.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • A valid South African resident status.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office.
  • Good report writing and presentation skills.
  • The successful candidate should be an excellent communicator.
  • A valid driver's license (Code EB) accompanied by a willingness and ability to travel (note: own vehicle required).
  • Be self-motivated and show initiative.
  • Preference will be given to candidates from the area.
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Environmental monitor support: provide support to the Environmental Monitor programme. Entails support to SANParks Biodiversity Social Projects to oversee monitoring and management functions pertaining to the Environmental monitors, as part of the KNP Integrated Fence Stewardship programme. Support for Environmental monitor programmes in collaboration with other partner institutions.
  • Project collaboration: provide support to identified partner projects within the respective implementation clusters, e.g. fence maintenance, protected area integrity surveillance, wildlife economy, waste economy, and conservation-compatible agricultural initiatives.
  • Stakeholder relationships: collaborate closely with a range of local project partners and community structures pertaining to agreed project activities.
  • Environmental awareness: participate in environmental awareness initiatives, linked to agreed partner projects.
  • Training and learning: participate in, and provide support to the Environmental Monitor and Youth workplace development activities.
  • Monitoring, evaluation, learning: maintain an effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning system for the Environmental monitor component, and other associated project activities.



Salary: R 252 504
