Job Title: Software Developer (C5) – 1 Position
(Position based in Pretoria, NPC)
Reports to: Manager Applications
Summation
Plans, designs, tests and deploys computer programs and applications. Their duties include identifying the needs of users, outlining technical requirements and specifications and overseeing programming activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Producing program specifications and implementing system enhancements by addressing specific business needs and resolving queries
• Developing secure software systems based upon industry specifications
• Analysing code for weaknesses and errors, and present detailed plans to improve them
• Defining and Developing application complex code
• Test new IT system designs and fix design problems found
• Test new system components
• Write reports describing findings
• Improving operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes
• Ensure designs are in compliance with specifications
• Liaise with business for clarification of client requirements
• Prepare and produce releases of software components
• Assist system users with technical support issues and handle according to defined procedures
• Negotiate timelines for the development and implementation of each project
• Establish business and technical specifications with respect to business systems and according to client specification
• Record all system documentation and update all changes thereto

Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications:
• National Diploma in Computer Technology (NQF Level 6) or Degree in Computer Sciences or Information Technology
• Professional program certification in Java is strongly preferred
Experience:
• 1-3 years of experience developing and implementing software applications
• 1-3 years in Application Support - Experience Description: Broad experience in translating business and functional requirements into technical specifications and developing the programming code to create the solutions.
• Experience developing software utilizing various coding languages including Java, C++, PHP and more
• Experience in Mobile application development
• Extensive experience in developing and implementing Software Applications
Knowledge and understanding of:
• Strong knowledge and understanding of project management and system development methodologies
• Technical (development software, systems development) and business analysis background
• A strong understanding of systems, systems architectures, as well as relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2010, 2012 and 2014 and Oracle 9i, 10g, 11g and 12c.

• Analysis of software systems, applications, databases and software environments
• Lead and coordinate the team
• Business process analysis, design and re-engineering
• Interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and writing)
• Report writing, documentation and presentation skills
• An analytical person with the ability to determine the best methods to apply for analysis, select appropriate criteria and evaluation options
• A mature individual with the ability to identify risks and to objectively select appropriate courses of action
• Ability to present findings and to persuade and obtain willing co-operation from others
• Ability to apply and adhere to quality standards / handle a degree of routine tasks
