The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is seeking to appoint an organized, diligent and dedicated individual with a goal oriented professional approach to provide strategic leadership in security management for SANBI.
 
The successful candidate must be in possession of a three (3) year National Diploma or Degree in Security Management or equivalent qualification at NQF 7 enhanced by PSIRA grade A or any relevant field enhanced by (8) eight years relevant working experience in safety and security sector in a leadership position, of which 4 years should be at first line management or leadership position(s). A background in contract management and investigations will be an added advantage.
 
The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent analytical and conceptual abilities; advanced organisational skills; the ability to maintain sound interpersonal relations; problem-solving ability and ability to communicate at all levels both verbally and in writing.  The incumbent must have an excellent computer literacy as well as be in possession of a valid Code B (unendorsed) driver’s license with one-year practical driving experience as well as be willing to travel.
 
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Provide safety and security frameworks, protocols and policy
  • Manage the coordination of physical security in the Institute
  • Oversee and manage the development of policies; guidelines; norms and standards of vetting and investigations for security clearance levels
  • Ensure that special investigations on security breaches and security risk assessments are conducted
  • Manage the implementation of Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS) within SANBI
  • Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of security contract and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
