SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL AIDS COUNCIL (SANAC)
SANAC BOARD OPPORTUNITY
Established in 2001, the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC) brings together government, civil society, the private sector, and all other stakeholders to drive an enhanced country response to the public health challenge of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Tuberculosis (TB) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). The Council is not a juristic person. Under the direction of SANAC, the government of South Africa created the SANAC Trust as the legal entity (established by Cabinet) mandated to drive all SANAC-related activities through the Trust Secretariat. Specifically, the Secretariat’s overall mandate is to coordinate, monitor and evaluate the National Strategic Plan for HIV, TB and STIs.
SANAC Trust hereby calls for applications for candidates to fill two (2) vacancies in the following portfolios in the Trust for a period of five (5) years renewable once for an additional five (5) year term. The vacancies are to be filled by persons who have skills, expertise, and experience in corporate governance as it pertains to one or more of the below portfolios:

- Governance, Social & Ethics
Name of Position: TRUSTEE (VOLUNTARY)
Duration: Five-Year Term (renewable)
Minimum Requirements include but are not limited to:
- At least 10 years’ experience at a senior level in your area of expertise. Specific experience serving on a Governing Board and Sub-Committee, ideally in the public sector/or Trust.
- Applicants are required to ensure availability for scheduled meetings, with dedication and commitment.
- Risk Management, Corporate Governance, Legal or Internal Audit qualification.
- Registration/Membership in area of expertise i.e. CRMSA, CGISA, Admitted Attorney, CIA, IIA etc.
Experience
- Working knowledge and experience in the TB/HIV environment will be an added advantage but is not a prerequisite.
- Familiarity with government structures, processes and key networks would also be advantageous.
- Experience in governance, leadership and strategic oversight.
- Risk management, governance and compliance systems and processes.
- Good communication, interpersonal and planning skills.
- Willingness and the ability to engage with stakeholders when required
- The Trustee needs to be a proactive and engaging team player.
