South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) was established in terms of the SAMSA Act 5 of 1998. It is tasked with the mandate of ensuring the safety of life and property at sea, preventing and combating pollution of the marine environment by ships and the promotion of South Africa's maritime interest.
 
 
CHIEF FINANCE OFFICER GRADE: E2
HEAD OFFICE: FINANCE
The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer
 
Job Purpose: To provide strategic direction and oversee the financial and supply chain management services of SAMSA.
 
Key Performance Areas: • Provide strategic leadership, support and advice to SAMSA regarding financial management functions according to the PFMA and other relevant regulations • Oversee the implementation of financial management strategies and procedures • Manage the production of financial statements and annual reporting • Oversee the review of accounting and supply chain processes • Co-ordinate and manage internal and external auditing processes • Oversee the financial planning and budgeting processes • Ensure effective governance and compliance within the unit • Provide Leadership and manage the unit's resources and performance.
 
 
Minimum Requirements: Qualifications: • Chartered Accountant (CA) [SA]/Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) • A postgraduate qualification in management studies is an advantage • Knowledge & Experience: • Minimum 8-10 years' relevant working
experience of which 2-3 years' should be at Senior Management level • In-depth and practical knowledge of GAAP, PFMA and king governance code • Experience in financial management, strategic planning, governance process and reporting • Critical Skills and Attributes: • Exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills •  People development and strategic leadership skills • Excellent business acumen • Strong strategic thinker and operational leader • Proactive • Unquestionable ethics and integrity • Budgeting and Financial Management • Risk management • Tact and flexibility • Stakeholder Engagement and Management.

HEAD OFFICE: CORPORATE AFFAIRS
The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer
 
Job Purpose: To provide strategic direction and oversee the management of stakeholders, communication and marketing programs of SAMSA.
 
Key Performance Areas: • Corporate communications and marketing strategy development and implementation • SAMSA brand creation, awareness and management • Maritime programme development and management • Maritime education and awareness programme implementation • Internal and external communication system development • Maritime events implementation • International relations and stakeholder management • CSI Projects established • Departmental human and financial resources management.
 
Minimum Requirements: Qualifications: • A relevant Post Graduate Degree • A postgraduate qualification in management studies is an advantage • Experience: • Minimum 8-10 years' relevant working experience of which 2-3 years' should be at Senior Management level • Knowledge and experience of stakeholder management, communication, corporate social responsibility, branding and events management • Critical Skills and Attributes: • Exceptional presentation and interpersonal

The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer
 
Job Purpose: To provide strategic input and oversee the knowledge and information management system of SAMSA.
 
Key Performance Areas: • Assume strategic responsibility for managing information flow and efficient access to information • Management and direction of all IT resources in line with business strategy and priorities • Provide strategic leadership, support and advice to SAMSA regarding IT Management functions • Manage the performance and risks of information systems in terms of contribution to business objectives, functionality, stability and value • Provide leadership and manage the unit resources and Performance.
 
Minimum Requirements: Qualifications: • A relevant Post Graduate Degree • A postgraduate qualification in management studies is an advantage • Knowledge & Experience: • At least 8-10 years' relevant working experience, of which 2-3 years' should be at Senior Management level • Web base interactive communication systems • Desktop, WAN, LAN operating environments • Critical Skills and Attributes: • Exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills • People development and strategic leadership skills • Excellent business acumen • Strong strategic thinker and operational leader • Proactive • Unquestionable ethics and integrity • Risk management • Tact and flexibility • Stakeholder Engagement and Management.
