​SEMI- SKILLED ARTISAN: FITTER X3 

Status: Permanent
Location: Timbadola Sawmill 
Grade: B5 
Reporting line: Superintend: Engineer 
 
Role Mandate 
Conduct plant equipment inspections and maintenance to ensure maximum plant availability.
 
Key Accountabilities 
  • Respond to breakdowns, perform equipment maintenance and repair diligently to reduce downtime 
  • Perform plant machinery fault finding and troubleshooting timeously to ensure high plant availability 
  • Ensure tools are handled with care and maintain good housekeeping 
  • Perform basic welding 
  • Support plant operations with good maintenance services to improve plant equipment performance and production quality 
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks, inspections according to maintenance standards and schedule 
  • Conduct planned maintenance on weekends as and when required 
  • Perform standby duties 
  • Order and ensure spares availability of tools and parts 
  • Ensure conformance with safety requirements and standards 
 
Minimum Requirements 
  • Grade 11/ NQF level 3/ N2 mechanical: Fitting Certificate and/ or 
  • Valid Trade Test Certificate: Fitter and/ or Fitter and Turner 
  • 3 Years’ experience as an Artisan Aid in Fitting in a sawmilling environment with Grade 11/ NQF Level 3/ N2 and/ or 
  • Must have Completed 2-3 Apprenticeship Programme and obtained a Valid Trade Test Certificate: Fitter and/ or Fitter and Turner in sawmilling environment 
  • Valid driver’s license
