JOB DESCRIPTION
Status: Fixed Term Contract (9 months)
Location: Mechanised Harvesting
Grade: B4
Reporting line: Forester: Mechanised
 
Role Mandate
Operating a Forwarder on a shift base in a high production harvesting (clear-fell/thinning) operation as part of the KLF Mechanised Harvesting operations at different Plantations.
 
 
Key Accountabilities
  • Executing work according to the operational harvesting plan on a shift base
  • Achieve required shift production targets as set per compartment
  • Ensure operational quality is maintained for the forwarder-timber quality and product presentation
  • Comply with all set standards
  • Comply with the applicable Best Operating Practice (BOP), harvesting and other forest management procedures
  • Ensure that the Daily Production Asset Card (DPAC) is completed per shift and all non-conformances reported
  • Daily preventative maintenance to be done according to required standards and recorded on checklist
  • Able to operate the machines in such a way that, operational costs are minimized
  • Weekly services to be done accordingly to required standards
  • Assist with planned scheduled maintenance
  • Calibration of harvester head to be done as part of shift to ensure compliance of required products
  • Repair minor breakdowns
  • Comply with all safety requirements as per BOP work instructions
 
 
Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 8
  • Mechanise training on a forwarder – supply certificate for training or latest forwarder driver operator refresher certificate
  • Mechanical knowledge can be advantageous
  • Be physically fit
