Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) is a newly established university providing holistic Health Sciences Education, situated at Garankuwa. The following position is currently available.
LECTURER (2 POSTS)
REF: 37/2019/NGM/P8
The incumbent in this position will be responsible for teaching curriculum development and coordinating programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The incumbent reports to the HOD and must meet the requirements, competencies and be responsible for the following key performance areas below:
REQUIREMENTS
A Master’s degree in Mathematics (Specialised in Algebra)
At least two (2) years of lecturing experience
Evidence of research output (e.g. publication in peer-reviewed journals or significant progress with PhD studies
Registration with the Natural Scientific Professions Council
Registration for doctoral studies (added advantage
A team player
Ability to lecture in at least two, but preferably more, of the following areas, e.g. Calculus, Advanced Calculus, Number theory, Category theory, Algebra, Abstract Algebra

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Teaching curriculum development and coordinating programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
Supervising postgraduate research appropriate to the post level
Conducting research at a competitive level, commensurate to the level of appointment and actively contribute to the department’s research profile
Performing various academic and administrative duties as determined by the HOD
Participating in the department’s strategic initiatives relating to teaching, research and community engagement
Conduct other duties as shall be allocated by the HOD.
Contribute to the overall development of SMU
