Purpose: The Team Leader: Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for coordinating, supporting, integrating and maintaining Unix, including Linux on enterprise server hardware and SAN storage management.
Requirements: •Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Equivalent •Honours degree in Information Technology or Equivalent (Advantage) •Certification in Linux, Unix and enterprise hardware (Advantage)•5 – 7 years’ experience in enterprise hardware and operating systems.

Duties: •Direct and assist with the installation of Unix / Linux or other enterprise level operating systems including Virtual Operating systems •Ensure that hardware /software installations and upgrades are properly performed in accordance with company policy by the team or himself •Coordinate and ensure the Testing, upgrade, configuration and maintenance of systems and services •Ensure the maintenance and improvement of server performance, reliability and security including kernel tuning •Conduct Kernel dump analysis and compiles relevant reports

•Update software and hardware in compliance with security policies •Coordinate and maintain the standard operating procedures for all facets of the Unix / Linux server environment, barebones and virtual •Perform configuration, design and maintenance of storage architecture network •Ensure that the team perform backups within the approved backup process •Ensure that all backups are done within set frequencies •Conduct and ensure that troubleshooting exercises are conducted to isolate and diagnose common system problems and events •Document implementation and configuration processes procedures for any new infrastructure •Ensure that all process documents are filed properly •Assist the team to analyse, logs, tracks and resolves complex software/hardware matters •Compile reports and present recommendations regarding hardware requirements to the Manager •Identify possible downstream implications and make recommendations to address these to the Manager •Assist and direct the team to monitor and support enterprise level Operating Systems and 3rd party software •Ensure that the team responds to enquiries and provide technical assistance and support to staff, administrators, service providers and site personnel and outside vendors.
