Purpose of the Job: The Senior Forensic Investigator is accountable for strategic, operational, financial, management and technical leadership to the Forensic Department, to develop plans and implement processes and investigation techniques, manage risks and be a point of contact and liaison with internal/ external matters pertaining to RAF.
 
Key Performance Areas
Forensic Investigation.
  • Planning and coordinating the investigation of cases as assigned to by respective management.
  • Maintain partnership relationship with the prosecuting authorities and Law Enforcement agencies.
  • Drawing of monthly/weekly reports for the region for transmission to the Senior Manager.
  • Identify the loopholes in the process that may lead to abuse and report such to the Forensic Manager.
  • Investigate irregularities identified or brought to his attention with a view of securing prosecution of parties involved.
  • Maintain healthy working relationship with law enforcement agencies and Forensic Department private investigation working partners.
  • Analyze reports received from private investigating companies or assessors and compile affidavits on behalf of RAF in order to lay criminal charges against guilty parties.
  • Opening / registering of criminal cases with the Police and keeping proper records thereof.
  • Compiling a comprehensive monthly activities repot and submission thereof to the Forensic Manager.
  • Giving of evidence at criminal courts and departmental hearings.
  • Supporting other RAF departments in connection with investigation that is being or has been conducted.
  • Management of RAF logistical and human resources
  • Meeting the targets as set down by a Forensic Manager and performing his tasks according to the set standards.
  • Maintaining and updating of Tracker spreadsheet of agents /touts that recruit that recruit the claimants for the purpose of effective data mining during investigation.
  • Investigation of reports received from Tip-offs Anonymous and giving feedback to the Manager timeously.
  • Involvement in internal and external fraud campaigns initiated by Forensic Department or in conjunction with Communications Department.
  • Effective case management and record keeping i.e. Inspections, case books, vehicle registers etc.
  • Keeping record of all cases that he /she reported to the Police, reflecting the Police reference numbers, the names of the investigation officer and the amount involved.
  • Giving support and guidance to his / her subordinates and conduct inspection of investigations undertaken.
  • Provide feedback to stakeholders in respect of investigations that were referred.
  • Establishment and maintenance of informer network within and outside his province.
  • Implementation of current fraud prevention strategy.
  • Be prepared to assist when there are national projects initiated by H/Office.
  • Identify, initiate and manage projects.
 
Stakeholder Relations Management
  • NPA and other external stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain strategic alliances with all relevant stakeholders including law enforcement agencies.
  • Facilitate communication with all levels of stakeholder contact.
  • Develop and maintain good working relations with all the stakeholders including staff, the claimants, lawyers, government departments, the SAPS.
 
Qualifications
  • NQF Level 7(Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma) related qualification in Law/Accounting/Police administration or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s License (Code B or above)
 
Experience
  • Relevant 5 - 7 years’ experience in fraud investigation environment of which 2 (two) years must have been on Manager/Supervisory level or area of expertise.
  • Experience in understanding of the criminal procedure act on law of evidence.
  • Experience in investigation of crime and knowledge of criminal justice system.
  • Experience in preparation of court cases for court.
  • Experience and proven track record of testifying in a court of law.

Remuneration

Key Performance Areas
Verification and Validation of Claims
  • Apply sound legal (RAF Act and Regulations to Act, Case Law) knowledge on daily basis to validate claims
  • Search for and applying relevant Case Law when possible and necessary

  • Perform additional work-related tasks as instructed by immediate superiors (acting on behalf of Seniors, assisting Registration Dept. with the completing of file covers, making photocopies of file contents.
 
Raising objections for invalid claims

Purpose of the Job: The Junior Customer Engineer is to provide IT end-user support to internal and external users of RAF ICT services.

  • Undertake maintenance and repairs on damaged and repairable hardware.
  • Report on uneconomical repairs and recommend replacement.
 
Management of multifunctional devices and standalone scanners.
  • Establish connection and access to MFD and Standalone for all users.
  • Identify problems and escalate matters to third party where appropriate.
  • Manage replacement of consumables in the region.
 
Provide network & telephone support
  • Replace faulty devices.
  • Provide 1st line support of telephone infrastructure.
  • Provide 1st line of network support
  • Participate in power failover testing.
 
Asset Management
  • Undertake audits of hardware and software assets
  • Maintain and update a register of all ICT assets in the region
  • Conduct Bi-annual asset verification
  • Adherence to asset management policy
 
AV/VC Support
  • Attend VC requests
  • Attend to 1st line VC problems and escalate matters to Customer Engineer.
 
Reporting
  • Provide input to ICT Operations reports.
  • Compile Regional HSC report. (We do not have HSCs anymore)
 
HSC and CSC Support. (We don't have HSCs anymore)
  • Setup new HSC and CSC's based on the Regional plans.
  • Ensure compliance to OHS when setting up new sites.
  • Provide customers with regular reports and feedback on their service request.
  • Liaise with customer engineer to ensure timely incident resolution.
 
Qualifications and Experience
  • NQF 6 (Diploma or Advanced Certificate) in IT qualification.
  • Relevant 3 year's system support experience.

  • Assist and attend to any other requests from Law Enforcement Agencies in relation to the civil liability of the RAF in matters under investigation or completed investigations.
  • Support other RAF departments in relation to civil liability of the RAF in matters under investigation or completed investigations.
  • Meeting targets as set down by a Forensic Manager/Senior Forensic investigator and performing his/her duties according to the set standards.

Purpose of the Learnership: The Organization is committed to youth skills development by providing unemployed learners who have completed grade 12 with an opportunity to gain work experience and a SAQA qualification.
