The Organization requires the services of qualified individuals within its Durban Regional Office for the following position: -

SENIOR OFFICER INTERNAL LAW DEPARTMENT: T.A.S.K LEVEL 12

Purpose of the Job: To prepare and defend Magistrate court matters within the Fund's jurisdiction accordingly by the Internal Law Department and provide a supervisory function to the team.
Key Performance Areas
Supervise Internal defending of Magistrate Court Summonses in accordance with prescribed jurisdiction/radius
- Check and monitor the proper Drafting of Notice of intention to defend and all pleadings and notices in preparation of trail supervise the draft pleadings, affidavits, notices and court processes
- Block consultation, early assessment of files, early instructions to experts and assessors
- Approve requests to appoint and instruct assessors and expert witnesses
- Authorise payment
- Prepare and proceed to trial in the magistrate court. Keep statistics and provide reports
- Instruct panel attorneys in the Magistrate Courts in motion proceedings and trials
- Keep accurate records and reports
- Maintain a trial register/diary for the unit
- Regular feedback to internal and external stakeholders
- Manage processes and settlements and payments for the unit to prevent the risk of writs
- Four (4) year Degree in Law or Equivalent
- Admission as an Attorney of the High Court or Advocate
- Relevant 4 years' experience in the claims/litigation environment of which 1 year must be on supervisory level

Total cost to company applicable to this position is minimum R502 953.00 per annum, negotiable.

Purpose of the Job: To manage the rehabilitation and healthcare needs of the injured.
Key Performance Areas

- Advise whether altering homes and placing clients in rehab centres or institutions is appropriate
- Advice regarding payment of care givers taking into account patient autonomy, informed choice, medical implications and burden of care
- Arrange for hospital admission and advise patients on their benefit
- Assessment of bills received and advises claimants of outcomes of bill review
- Recommend payment of bills assessed
Qualifications & Experience
- NQF 6 (Diploma or Advanced Certificate) in Nursing or Allied Health Professions or related qualification to discipline
- NQF 7 (Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma) in Nursing/ Applied Health Professions related qualification to discipline will be an added advantage
- Registration with the relevant Health professions council
- Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding will be an advantage
- Valid code 8 driving license
- Relevant of 4 years' experience in the medical field of which 1 year is on supervisory level

Remuneration
The total cost to company minimum remuneration package applicable to this position is R502 953.00 per annum and will be negotiable commensurate with experience.
