Purpose of the Job: Reporting to the Senior Manager: Medical Advisory, the successful incumbent will be accountable for the drug-related development and review of clinical protocols and guidelines to provide retrospective review of drug utilization and to provide over-sight and pharmacy experience within the organisation. The role takes leadership in the conceptualization, planning and effective implementation of guidelines and treatment protocols in line with the scope of practice for a pharmacist.

  • Pharmacology Treatment Protocol Development.
  • Quality Assurance program that enhance patient safety and improve ways in which drugs are used.
  • Design drug formulary or approved medication list for the Road Accident Fund.
  • Stakeholder relations management.
  • Administration and report writing.

  • People management.
 
 
Qualifications and Experience
  • B. Pharm Degree or equivalent.
  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council as a Pharmacist.
  • Post-graduate qualification will be advantageous.
  • Certificate in Evidence Based training (PTCMA) or Health Technology Assessment Training (HTA) will be advantageous.
  • Relevant 6 - 8 years' experience as a Pharmacist of which 2 years must have been in a management/ supervisory level within a medical Aid/ Managed Healthcare environment.
  • With experience working with a protocol development team.
  • With experience working with ICD 10 codes, CPT codes and NAPPI codes.
  • With experience working within South African regulatory bodies.

  • Knowledge of the National Health Act, RAF Act and other health related legislation such as the Medical Scheme's Act, etc.
  • Knowledge of Health Technology assessment measures.
  • Knowledge of health standards.
  • Knowledge of RAF and RABS legislation.
  • Knowledge of CMS standards and procedures.
 


Remuneration
Total cost to company applicable to this position is minimum R911 075.00 per annum, negotiable.
