ROAD ACCIDENT FUND (RAF)
The Road Accident Fund's mission is to provide cover to all road users within the boarders of South Africa to rehabilitate and compensate persons injured as a result of motor vehicle accidents in a timely and caring manner, and to actively promote safe use of our roads.
The Organisation requires the services of qualified individuals for the following position; the position will be based in the Durban Regional Office:

Purpose of the Job: To prepare and defend Magistrate Court matters within the funds jurisdiction accordingly by the internal Law Department and provide a supervisory function to the team.
Key Performance Areas
Supervise Internal defending of Magistrate Court Summonses in accordance with prescribed jurisdiction/radius
Settle non-litigious matters before they are set down for trial
Attend to all Litigation matters in the unit

Supervise Internal defending of Magistrate Court Summonses in accordance with prescribed jurisdiction/radius
- Check and monitor the proper drafting of Notice of intention to defend and all pleadings and notices in preparation of trial supervise the draft pleadings affidavits, notices and court processes
Settle non-litigious matters before they are set down for trial
- Block consultation, early assessment of files, early instruction to experts and assessors
- Approve requests to appoint and instruct assessors and expert witnesses
- Authorize payment
Attend to all Litigation matters in the unit
- Prepare and proceed to trial in the Magistrate Court. Keep statistics and provide reports
- Instruct panel attorneys in the Magistrate Court in motion proceedings and trials
- Keep accurate records and reports
- Maintain a trial register/ diary for the unit
Improve on customer satisfaction
- Regular feedback to internal and external stakeholders
Contribute to the elimination of writs
- Manage processes and settlements and payments for the unit to prevent the risk of writs
Qualifications & Experience
- B Degree in Law at NQF Level 8 or equivalent
- Admission as an attorney of the high court or advocate
- Relevant 4 years' experience in the Claims/Litigation environment of which 1 years must have been on a supervisory level

Remuneration
At the cost to company of minimum package applicable to this position is R502 953.00 per annum and will be negotiable commensurate with experience.
NB: "RAF offers Total Employment Cost packages with no additional contributions from the Employer, successful candidates are required to structure their packages in manner that will suit their needs".
