The Road Accident Fund's mission is to provide appropriate cover to all road users within the borders of South Africa; to rehabilitate and compensate persons injured as a result of motor vehicle accidents in a timely and caring manner; and to actively promote safe use of our roads.

Purpose of the Job: Reporting to the Senior Manager: Infrastructure, the successful candidate will be accountable for capacity management and business continuity (DR) processes and planning. Develops baseline and forecasts for performance and capacity across all RAF infrastructure and identify trends and develops related analytic to ensure that services and infrastructure are able to deliver the agreed capacity and performance targets in a cost effective and timely manner.
 
Key Performance Areas
Enterprise Capacity Management and Planning
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive capacity management planning process, system and IT component level taking into account current and new requirements, including those from new or modified services.
  • Develop and implement tools that allow for the effective monitoring/ trending of IT Infrastructure, Software and IT components performance and resource utilization.
  • Provide adequate capacity within the IT environment to meet Service Levels and other performance requirements, taking into account daily, weekly and seasonal variations in capacity demands.
  • Proactively provide predictive capacity forecasts through the use of modelling, trending, base lining and other techniques.
  • Develop and review scenarios for addressing capacity requirements and constraints that best addresses ICT Infrastructure needs.
 
IT Service Continuity and Disaster Recovery Management and Planning
  • Ensure continuous alignment between Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans to maintain continuous IT Service Continuity.
  • Map RTO and RPO metrics to IT infrastructure and determine the most suitable recovery strategy for each system.
  • Maintain backup strategy and adherence thereof.
  • Ensure off-site storage of backup tape media.

Ensure availability of IT Infrastructure
  • Percentage reduction in the cost of unavailability.
  • Timely completion of regular cost-benefit analysis established for infrastructure.
  • Component failure impact analysis.
    Ensure reporting as per reporting requirements
  • Produce extensive Management Reports covering current usage, trends and forecast.
  • Report on enterprise system performance and activity based usage.
  • Report on availability and DR.

People management
  • Ensure that proper HR systems and policies and procedures are fully functional with the department.
  • Manage direct reports and create enabling environment for them to excel.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance in career progression of direct reports.
 
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma @ NQF Level 7 in Information Technology qualification.
  • Postgraduate Diploma/ Honours Degree/ Professional Qualification Degree @ NQF Level 8 will be advantageous.
  • ITIL Foundation and/ or ITIL Service Design certification which covers Capacity Management is an added advantage.
  • IT Service Continuity or Disaster Recovery training is an added advantage.
  • Relevant 6 – 8 years' experience in a related work environment with specific experience for IT Infrastructure and Capacity Management and various ICT Enterprise Systems i.e. Windows and UNIX servers, Storage Arrays, Visual Infrastructure, Network Infrastructure, Business Applications and Database hosting service of which 2 years must have been at a supervisory/ management level.

Remuneration
Total cost to company applicable to this position is minimum R911 075.00 per annum, negotiable.

 NB: "RAF offers Total Employment Cost packages with no additional contributions from the Employer, successful candidates are required to structure their packages in a manner that will suit their needs".
