Main Objectives

Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty, and/or University level.
In addition, a Professor and Associate Professor are to provide academic leadership in the following areas: teaching and learning, research, professional involvement in the field, and community engagement, as well as to contribute towards the governance of the institution. This leadership contribution of the Professor should be evidenced at the departmental, Faculty and institutional levels.

Main Objectives
Responsible for providing high-level confidential, strategic, research, professional assistance, project management, report writing, and support for the Vice-Chancellor. This strategic position in the Office of Vice-Chancellor involves interaction with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders of the University.
The incumbent will also provide high-level confidential, strategic, and professional support to the DVC: Academic and Student Affairs and the Director: Institutional Research, Planning, and Quality Promotion.
The Requirements
A Master’s degree or equivalent NQF 9 qualification plus at least seven years relevant experience where such experience includes: -
- Proven and demonstrable research experience and track record
- A strong analytical track record
- Must have worked in a similar role where working at a strategic level was part of the key responsibilities
- Previous experience managing strategic projects
- Previous experience in the establishment of systems and processes to gather, analyze, synthesize and report on data, including having worked with technology to enhance efficiencies and presentation
- A sound working knowledge of higher education, specifically academic processes, research and the overall functioning of higher education, including the Department of Higher Education and Training, the Council of Higher Education, and other bodies that play a role in higher education
- Excellent writing skills in English.
- Extensive conflict management skills.
- Previous experience working under pressure and with tight deadlines.
- Previous experience managing budgets and accounts and the ability to read a balance sheet and reconcile accounts.

Main Objectives
To support the Senior HR Practitioner in providing a valued and professional HR service, specifically through the execution of excellent HR administrative and basic HR professional services. The HR Officer and the Senior HR Practitioner will operate in a unit. These units report into the Manager: Recruitment and Staffing.
The Requirements
Degree (with a relevant major, preferably in Industrial Psychology or Human Resources) plus approximately three years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: -
- Administration with a strong focus on implementing electronic administrative systems and processes.
- At least one year of experience in HR administration within an environment utilizing an HR information technology system.
- Implementing structures, systems, and processes to ensure service delivery of a high quality that is valued by others.
- Exposure to most, if not all, areas of HR (for example, Recruitment and Selection, Employee Relations, Training and Development, Remuneration, Performance Management, HR IT systems, and Well-being) will be a considerable advantage.
- At least 18 months of experience in a pressurized, high-volume administrative environment, dealing with a large staff complement (minimum of 500 employees).
- Previous experience within the Higher Education sector will be an advantage
