The counselling centre invites suitably qualified candidates to join their vibrant team. 

Main Objectives
As a senior member of a team of psychologists and interns in the Counselling Centre, the primary purposes of this job are to provide comprehensive counselling and psychological support to students, provide advice to University staff members in managing students with psychological problems, assist the Head of the Centre in the supervision and training of intern psychologists.


The requirements
Registration and compliant with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Counselling Psychologist (Masters’ degree) with at least 3 year’s relevant work experience over and above their internship.  Individuals who have supervised interns will be at an advantage.
             
Relevant experience includes: -
  1. Any work with adolescents or individuals in early adulthood. The greater the diversity of this experience the better for example, experience in one on one counselling, group counselling and educational work
  2. Those individuals with specific experience of working with University students will also be at an advantage.
  3. Experience in training of groups
  4. Experience in the counselling of HIV/AIDS patients will be an advantage as well as any involvement in HIV/AIDS initiatives/programs
  5. Being able to speak Xhosa will be an advantage

Remuneration per annum (Grade 12):
Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R440 529

The requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Grade 12 (a Diploma would be an added advantage) or equivalent plus approximately 2 years relevant experience where such experience includes: -
  1. Previous reception experience
  2. Previous administrative experience with a computerized environment OR demonstrable ability to work with Word, Excel, Email and the Internet.
  3. Some basic data capturing experience will be an advantage

Job Description
Aqualab Scientific Leader in Department of Ichthyology and Fisheries Science – Part time  hours per week (10 hours per week) at Professor level - 36 months

The Department of ichthyology and Fisheries Science invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team. 
 
Main Objectives
All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.  Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level, and make some contribution to their profession.
 
The requirements
Professor:
  1. At least a PhD in Ichthyology, Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, or equivalent.
  2. Extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate and post graduate levels.
  3. Experience in teaching and research, at the undergraduate and post graduate levels in aquaculture, fisheries science and/or ichthyology, in fresh, brackish water and/or marine systems. Expertise that covers these fields broadly shall be preferential to a narrow or more specialised area of expertise.
  4. Supervision of Masters and PhD candidates to completion.
  5. International profile in discipline.
  6. Track record of research publication.
  7. Track record of administration, management, and leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal).
  8. A track record of research grant acquisition.
  9. A track record in ecophysiology research is required.
