The requirements

  • Previous experience in an IT-related field
  • Knowledge and/or experience in system and server design and architecture
  • Previous experience working with alternative operating systems

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Rhodes University is seeking to appoint someone at the level of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer and invites suitably qualified candidates to apply.
 

Main Objectives
All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.  Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level, and make some contribution to their profession.

The requirements
Lecturer
  • MSc (Pharm) degree in Pharmaceutics or related field.
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist.
  • Ability to teach in Physical Pharmaceutics. Ability to teach in Pharmaceutical Calculations, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics will be an advantage.
  • Experience in Industrial Pharmacy will be an advantage.
  • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal).
Senior Lecturer
  • PhD degree in Pharmaceutics or related field is preferred. Candidates with a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutics or related field with progress being made towards a PhD will be considered. As a guide, progress implies intended submission within the next 12 months.
 
PLUS
Experience: Usually 7 to 10 years of teaching experience.  OR 7 to 10 years of professional experience in a health or medicines-related field.
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is required.
  • Experience in teaching Physical Pharmaceutics. Experience in teaching Pharmaceutical Calculations, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics will be an advantage.
  • Experience in Industrial Pharmacy will be an advantage.
  • Good research supervision of at least Masters’ degrees required
  • Emerging national profile in discipline
  • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal)

Purpose
As a senior member of a team of psychologists and interns in the Counselling Centre, the primary purposes of this job are to provide comprehensive counselling and psychological support to students, provide advice to University staff members in managing students with psychological problems, assist the Head of the Centre in the supervision and training of intern psychologists.

Requirements
Registration and compliant with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Counselling Psychologist (Masters’ degree) with at least 3 year’s relevant work experience over and above their internship.  Individuals who have supervised interns will be at an advantage. 


Relevant experience includes: -
  •  Any work with adolescents or individuals in early adulthood. The greater the diversity of this experience the better for example, experience in one on one counselling, group counselling and educational work
  • Those individuals with specific experience of working with University students will also be at an advantage.
  • Experience in training of groups
  • Experience in the counselling of HIV/AIDS patients will be an advantage as well as any involvement in HIV/AIDS initiatives/programs
  • Being able to speak Xhosa will be an advantage

  • Able to demonstrate a track record of success with regard to the above as well as where initiative has been taken to enhance or build key relationships.
  • Demonstrable success in running projects which are aimed at achieving support for philanthropic programmes.
  • At least 3 years management experience
  • Previous experience working with senior management in an organisation, where strategic input has been required
