Main Objectives
To manage all administrative and support functions of the Departments of Accounting, Economics, and Management so that they can function effectively within the parameters of University regulations and policies and so that the HoDs and academic staff can focus on furthering the academic project of the Department.
 
The Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree (a degree in commerce, accounting, or management would be advantageous) plus approximately seven (7) years relevant experience where such experience includes: -
  • Previous administrative experience within a computerized environment.
  • At least three (3) years of experience working with middle to senior management.
  • Previous experience with financial systems, specifically concerning budgets and budget controls.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in managing staff.
  • Previous experience working within an academic department, particularly within a large department, will be an advantage.

A PhD in Education with considerable teaching experience in Initial Teacher Education and post-graduate programmes with: -
  • Higher Education teaching experience in the following disciplinary areas: English Language Teaching and Academic Literacies/ Development.
  • Research supervision experience of Master of Education students required, and of PhD students preferred.
  • National and emerging international profile in the discipline.
  • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal)
  • School teaching experience and the ability to speak more than one South African language will be advantages. 
 
Senior Lecturer
A PhD in Education with teaching experience in Initial Teacher Education and post-graduate programmes with:-

  • Some administrative or management experience, albeit in informal contexts, e.g., student or sports clubs, work experiences, but administrative or management experience in the workplace will place the candidate at an advantage.
