PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT
ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT: LAW ENFORCEMENT
(TASK GRADE 11)
Salary: R263 030 .76 to R341 439 .60 per annum (Excluding all benefits)
Requirements: Grade 12 National Traffic Diploma accredited by Institute of Traffic and Municipal Officers of South Africa Bachelor’s Degree in Traffic will be an added advantage Minimum of 2 years as Senior Traffic Officer Computer Literacy Code B Driver’s Licence.
Key Performance Areas: Co-ordinates and controls the key performance indicators and outcomes of personnel within the road traffic and law enforcement section in order to ensure key service delivery priorities are identified and outcomes managed through continuous assessment, intervention and adjustment to operational plans Monitors personnel and performance management in order to ensure a climate conducive to promoting and sustaining motivational and performance levels are cultivated and maintained enabling the section to contribute positively to the Department service level objectives and outcomes Co-ordinates procedures, systems and controls to regulate specific work and related applications associated with the functionality and monitors sequences associated with the implementation of statutory Laws and By-Laws related to Public Safety in order to ensue any contravention of the laws are appropriately dealt with and contributing to a safer community
Co-ordinates the implementation of specific plans associated with controlling traffic and maintaining road safety in order to ensure adequate traffic policing and road safety measures are instituted to protect road users and prevent serious/fatal accidents through negligence or non-compliance Co-ordinates guidance and information on specific key performance areas and requirements associated with traffic policing and road safety in order to ensure information, advice or options on relevant matters, are communicated through the various mediums is accurately interpreted through the provision of adequate and clear explanation and facts Co-ordinates specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and result indicators of the functionality in order to ensure administrative sequences dictating reporting requirements and approval procedures are complied with and correspondence responded to through the provision of accurate information on the activities of the Section.
SENIOR TRAFFIC OFFICER
(TASK GRADE 10)
Salary: R222 801 .84 to R289 195 .80 per annum (Excluding all benefits)
Requirements: Grade 12 National Traffic Diploma accredited by the Institute of Traffic and Municipal Officers of South Africa Minimum of 3 years as Traffic Officer Code B Driver’s Licence.
Key Performance Areas: Co-ordinates specific law enforcement functions in order to ensure inconvenience and/or risk and safety is minimised through efficient handling of traffic congestions Performs relevant administrative functions, co-ordinates and controls the tasks/activities of personnel and allocates and prioritises outcomes Co-ordinates specific administrative and reporting requirements in order to ensure administrative sequences dictating reporting requirements, approval procedures and maintenance of records are complied with. Attends to the application of specific maintenance sequences with respect to equipment and vehicles.
