Requirements: A degree or National Diploma in any of the following fields: Law/Auditing/Accounting/Forensic Investigations• Minimum five (5) years Investigation experience and/or experience in Forensic Accounting, Forensic Investigations and Forensic Auditing • Good understanding of legislative prescripts that give mandate to Public Protector SA • Computer literacy • Understanding Requirements of South African Public Service Administration • Knowledge and application of Case Management System (CMS) or other computer management systems • Knowledge of auditing or investigation techniques • A valid driver’s license • Fluency in English and other official language relevant to the Province/Region 
 
Key Responsibilities and Duties: Conduct investigations on maladministration, undue delay and conduct failure using various investigation techniques in accordance with PPSA service standards • Prepare Investigation Plans for each allocated matter • Apply Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process to resolve reported complaints • Keep complainants informed of the progress of the investigation • Prepare letters, memos and reports and submit to the supervisor within timelines set in the investigation plan • Submit prescribed accurate and complete monthly and quarterly statistical reports to the supervisor

Key Responsibilities and Duties: • Promote awareness and access to the Public Protector’s Office • Manage and maintain stakeholder relations and collaborations in the region • Assist with the development and implementation of the Outreach Programme • Conduct clinics, information sessions, workshops and radio presentations on the mandate of the Public Protector’s Office • Establish networks to assist in implementing the Outreach Programme • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to do preparation for Outreach activities • Manage Logistics for the Public Protector events in the region/province • Prepare evaluation and impact assessment reports for Outreach Education and Communications activities • Promoting and marketing Public Protector’s office’s services to communities • Establish networks to assist in implementing the Outreach Programme • Compile, collate and submit monthly, quarterly and annual statistical reports on outreach • Attend to all complainants during outreach events and assist in registering complaints in terms of Public Protector’s Office’s processes and procedures • Assist with investigation and inspection in loco, Monitor implementation of remedial action •

PRACTITIONER: FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING X2 POSTS

Requirements: A three (3) year tertiary qualification in Finance/Accounting or equivalent in a financial related field • Minimum of three (3) years functional experience in Financial Management Services • Computer literacy • Knowledge of PFMA and Treasury Regulations •GRAP knowledge •SAP financial system experience will be an added advantage • Fluency in English and other official language relevant to the Province/Region. Key responsibilities: • Administer petty cash and reconcile bank accounts • Recording supplier data (invoices, amounts, date, bank details, etc) timely and accurately • Prepare and manage electronic payments and filing of these payments (e.g.: Supplier and Third Party payments) • Capture all transactions onto the accounting system • Prepare monthly creditor’s reconciliation and 30 days payment report • Ensure the purchase orders and requisition forms are approved and amounts agree to invoice before payment is processed • Preparation of subsistence and travelling claims, check for the overall correctness, which include inter-alia Calculations, allowances, expenditure that may be claimed and which may not be claimed as well as supportive documentation • Allocate expenditure to budget codes • Create new creditor accounts and capture banking details • Print remittance advice and send to supplier upon payment of the invoice. • Preparation of advance payments for overseas trips • Process all month end closure activities in relation to the payments and finance unit •Updating of lease schedules and recording • Knowledge of assets management, cash book, prepayments and contract schedule and payments management, issuing filed documents for audit purposes and responding to audit queries.
