Purpose of the role:
Provides strategic leadership of the Unlisted Properties and Infrastructure investment portfolio. This role is responsible for defining, leading, and executing the PIC’s Property and Infrastructure investment strategies across direct, indirect properties and related asset classes. The CIO should ensure that investments deliver long‑term value, are selected and monitored through rigorous due diligence, meet portfolio‑level strategic goals, comply with regulatory and governance standards and deliver on the targeted returns.

Purpose of the role:

Minimum Requirements:
- At least 15+ years of Senior Management experience in the property and infrastructure investment or financing industry, with significant experience in managing related investment portfolios over multiple market cycles.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing investment teams in a large institutional or asset-management environment.
- Demonstrated involvement in infrastructure development sectors (e.g., energy, transport, water, telecoms).
- Understanding of policy, regulatory environments, and the investment landscape governing infrastructure assets.
- Experience in modelling, due diligence, feasibility studies, or PPPs (public–private partnerships).
- Minimum five years in executive leadership/Top Management.
- Master’s degree (Property/Real Estate, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or Related)
- CFA, CA (SA)Pr. Eng designation or equivalent.
- FAIS Registered Key Individual (RE 05, 01 and 03 Certificate).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree (Master’s level) in property-related studies/Infrastructure/Finance/ Engineering or related.
- Professional designation(s) related to the field of work are advantageous.

- Develop and execute comprehensive, multi‑year properties and Infrastructure investment strategies per unlisted asset class aligned with client investment mandates and organisational objectives.
- Shape the investment philosophy, asset‑class frameworks, pacing models, and long‑term deployment strategies.
- Lead strategic initiatives to scale private‑markets capabilities and harmonise processes.
2. Portfolio Construction & Oversight
- Oversee diversified property and infrastructure portfolios across buyout, venture, credit and other unlisted asset classes.
- Manage capital pacing, liquidity planning, and long‑term asset allocation.
- Optimise risk‑adjusted returns and ensure alignment with long‑term strategic benchmarks.

The Chief Investment Officer, Listed Investments, provides strategic leadership and oversight of the corporation’s listed investments portfolio. This role ensures optimal risk-adjusted returns, strong governance, and alignment with the company’s long term financial and sustainability objectives. The CIO, Listed Investments, oversees investment strategy, asset allocation, manager selection, and portfolio performance across all listed asset classes.
