SECTOR SPECIALIST: SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Research & Innovation Division 
*Job Grade: E1 – E4 
Ref: SISOE001 
Salary: All-inclusive remuneration package negotiable 
Centre: Pretoria, Research Division 
 
Purpose of the role: 
To support both the Listed and Unlisted teams with the generation of well-researched investment ideas, industry-leading sector knowledge, strategic initiatives and contribute to growth in assets under management.
 
Requirements:
 
Minimum Requirements 
At least 7 years relevant sector experience in social infrastructure research or equity analysis covering healthcare/education/properties 
Postgraduate qualification in Commerce, Finance or equivalent relevant qualification. Master’s degree/MBA/CFA would be preferred. 
Experience in undertaking research with implications for the economy and investments is key. 
Experience in implementing research views in portfolios would be highly desirable. 
Must possess the desire and ability to work in a collaborative and intensive team-orientated environment 
FAIS RE5 Certificate or it must be obtained within 6 months of employment 
 
Preferred Qualifications 
Post Graduate Degree in Commerce, Finance 
 
Professional Body/Association 
CFA/CA or other 
 
Duties:
  • Produce Industry-leading proprietary research that generates Investment views and ideas in social infrastructure sectors (education, healthcare, affordable housing, student accommodation and water & sanitation). 
  • Identify investment opportunities in social infrastructure. 
  • Undertake thematic research and thought leadership pieces in social infrastructure. 
  • Develop and update sector investment strategies for social infrastructure. 
  • Undertake market research analysis for unlisted transactions. 
  • Support the unlisted deal teams during the due diligence process and in evaluating potential investments. 
  • Work with senior analysts and research analysts. 
 
Competencies and skills: 
  • Excellent understanding of the investment environment in South Africa and the Rest of Africa, with previous work experience in this area 
  • Financial modelling skills 
  • Excellent writing and communication skills 
  • Excellent presentation skills

CONTRACTS MANAGER

Purpose of the role: 
To oversee and ensure effective and efficient contract management for the PIC including assets management. 
 
Requirements:
 
Minimum Requirements 
Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Business Administration/Law or equivalent commerce-related tertiary degree (NQF 7) 
Minimum of 8 – 10 years in a similar position 
Experience in practising General conditions of contracts as prescribed by the National Treasury 
Legal and financial understanding in commercial contracting and general contract management 
Knowledge of finance-related regulations and legislation, including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE), and Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act (PPPFA). 
 
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Post Graduate Qualification in Commerce/Law 
 
Duties:
  • Oversee and ensure effective and efficient contract management for the PIC, including assets under management. 
  • Contract negotiation and management. 
  • Collaborate with Legal on executing SLAs, engagement letters, or any other contracts. 
  • Establish third-party management-related policies, standards, processes, and templates. 
  • Implement vendor/supplier performance management processes. 
  • Effectively communicate a clear and concise contract overview to key stakeholders. 
  • Handle contract-related complaints and disputes from stakeholders. 
  • Schedule and execute contractual events (e.g., audits, extension, expiry). 
  • Identify and execute value opportunities with key vendor/supplier relationships. 
  • Apply rules for KPI and service credit calculation and trends. 
  • Collect, consolidate, and communicate vendor/supplier performance and identified risks. 
  • Implement a business performance management process to ensure regular review of SLAs with vendors/suppliers. 
  • Understand vendor/supplier spending by category, cost centre, and other requirements 
  • Classify, rationalize, and optimize the vendor portfolio, and concentrate efforts on managing the most strategic vendors/suppliers 
  • Implement Supplier and Enterprise Development initiatives

  • Ability to deal tactfully with vendors, suppliers, and contractors who provide a broad spectrum of products and services.
