SENIOR PUBLIC RELATIONS PRACTITIONER – (Ref NO – SPRP 2023)
The Proudly South African Campaign invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of a Senior Public Relations Practitioner on a fixed term contract for 3 years. The incumbent will report to the Public Relations Manager.
REMUNERATION PACKAGE: R45 000.00 per month plus benefits.
MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• B. Degree in Public Relations or Journalism/Communication.
• Minimum 5 years of Communication/Public Relations experience.
• Registration with the relevant PR affiliation bodies.
• Code 8 – Drivers Licence.
• Willing to work on weekends & long irregular hours.
• Media/Journalism experience will be advantageous.
• Experience in supervising a PR Team will be advantageous.
SKILLS:
• Good networking, relationship building and maintaining PR black book, i.e. Radio producers, presenters, editors, journalists etc.
• Strong customer focus and dedicated to meeting the expectations.
• Action oriented, results driven and passion for challenging tasks.
• Personal integrity by being trustworthy honest and conscientious.
• Passionate for South Africa and job creation.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide comprehensive support to the PR Manager on organisational campaigns, internal and external PR activities.
• Assist with the gathering and collation of relevant stories/information for use in all internal and external publications and press releases including the Proudly South African Members’ Newsletter, press releases, website, and social media posts.
• Assist with the setting up of press conferences where relevant.
• Ensuring that all media stakeholders are properly managed and ensuring adherence to protocols set out by Proudly South African for critical stakeholder groups.
• Responsible for comprehensive reports on media trends per industry sector, to identify best media platforms for maximum Public Relation/visibility output.
• Responsible for collating news clip stats/reports
• Evaluate and manage sponsorship proposals as required.
• Assist with compiling of content for promotional printed materials including brochures and flyers to promote the good image of the organisation.
• Ensure consistent and frequent release of media and press communication to promote both the positive image and visibility of the organization and frequent communication on all Proudly SA events/activities on the Proudly SA website and social medial platforms.
• Responsible for clear growth of Proudly SA social media following and presence every quarter of the fiscal year.
• Provide assistance in the compilation of monthly media reports.
• Develop, grow and maintain relationships with key members of the media through using various approaches, including the Producers Plan.
MEDIA RELATIONS
• Ensure that that journalist relationship-building initiatives are driven within the team.
• Display an excellent knowledge of the South African media landscape (and an interest in the broader African media landscape).
• Maintain solid media relationships and oversee the effective running of the team’s entire media relations process.
• Write and pitch (or oversee PR Digital Content Officer’s writing and pitching of) excellent quality, relevant story angles to targeted media, displaying creativity and an understanding of newsworthiness.
• Establish and maintain good media relationships that the Campaign leverage on for publicity purposes.
DIGITAL
• Formulate strategies and plans to improve the aesthetics of the Proudly SA social media platforms;
• Manages the PR Digital Officer’s work output; contributes to the content plans by sharing input and approving content prior to PR Manager’s final approval.
• Responsible for ensuring the PR Digital Content Officer fulfils her content duties.
• Responsible for community management together with the PR Digital Content Officer.
• Newsletter: In charge of creating a newsletter that appeals visually and carries thought-provoking content to further illustrate the Proudly SA brand/campaign.
EVENTS
• Media networking events are attended with the PR Manager whenever required.
• Attend and cover the marketing department events – align all events with APP requirement of 48 media engagements a year.
• Attend and cover CEO and other internal stakeholders events as and when required.
• Strategically formulate media partnerships that respond to the direction of the campaign as influenced by the respective masterplans.
• Execute assigned media partnerships to ensure that the campaign is reaching the right target market and an education drive is implemented at all times.
REPORTING
• Responsibility for managing PR Digital Content Officer on weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting for both traditional and social.
• Ensure PR Manager approves reports.
• Track media coverage and collate regular internal reports in a timely manner in accordance with the targets.
• Assists media monitoring and draws up monthly and quarterly reports relating to media coverage, publicity, AVEs and PR/Editorial values.
APP REQUIREMENTS:
• Ensure all APP requirements are implemented in accordance with the scope and deadlines.
