PRIVATE SECURITY INDUSTRY REGULATORY AUTHORITY (PSIRA)
 
The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA) with its head office in Eco Park - Centurion is the statutory body regulating the private security industry in South Africa. PSiRA is looking for dynamic experienced and suitably qualified professionals to take up these challenging positions. It is the intention of the Authority to promote representative through the filling of these positions.
 


PROSECUTOR 
Salary: R 724 287 basic salary P/A plus benefits 
(Durban)
 
Requirements: Recognized LLB degree or equivalent qualification coupled with at least 6 years’ experience as a Prosecutor or as a Litigant in the private sector ●Valid driver’s licence ●Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and applicable knowledge and experience on the Job may be considered during the selection process 
 
Essential criteria: Proficient in relevant Microsoft Office Packages ● Good oral and written communication skills ●Knowledge of legislations ●Interpersonal Skills ●Computer Literate ●Organizational Skills ● A calm, logical approach with an ability to work and deliver under pressure ●Professionalism ●The successful candidate is expected to have his/her own reliable vehicle.




Key Performance Areas: Provide advice to the inspectors/investigators with regard to the interpretation and application of applicable legislation ●Receive, peruse and confirm the correctness of the information supplied in the docket, as well as determining whether sufficient admissible evidence is available for successful prosecution of matters ●Developing and issuing of charge sheet to the respondents ●Conduct pre-trial conferencing with the respondent and his/her legal representatives ●Preparation and implementation of trial date ●Correspond with respondents and their representatives in writing and telephonically ●Develop and issue summons ●Prosecute cases during Improper Conduct Hearings (lead, evidence, cross examine) ●Develop a summary report from a Presiding Officers judgement to be used to execute the outcomes of the hearing ●Manage appeal process (replication) ●Keep record of matters handled and compile / submit statistical reports regarding the roll ●Preside over internal disciplinary hearings of misconduct ●Serve on committees (i.e. Regulatory, Registration and BSC) ●Report and offer applicable support to the office of the Manager Prosecutions on matters relevant to prosecutorial and legal services.
