JOB TITLE: General Manager: Group Legal Services

DEPARTMENTAL MISSION: To direct and oversee the functions and activities of Group Legal Services
 
 
OUTPUTS:
• Analyse the strategy and business plan of the PRASA Group to determine the deliverables of Group Legal Services
• Develop the business plan, strategies and policies of Group Legal Services in alignment with Group strategy.
• Create and maintain a climate conducive for performance to ensure that Group Legal Services delivers against objectives.
• Develop and implement performance indicators for Group Legal Services and the persons reporting to him/her.
• Develop and ensure implementation of SLAs in collaboration with the internal clients supported by Group Legal Services.
• Implement and monitor compliance to the legal strategy and business plans of Group Legal Services.
• Provide legal service and support to the PRASA Group and the various Departments and business units across the Group
• Provide and oversee legal advice to all areas of the business including the drafting, vetting and negotiation of contracts.
• Support the procurement process within the organisation and ensure standardization of contracts.
• Ensure that litigation processes are managed effectively and efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Negotiate, analyse, draft and interpret various legal instruments for and on behalf of the PRASA Group.
• Advise on the legal effects of policy proposals (internal and external) and assist in the revision and amendment of the Group’s policies & procedures.
• Ensure and promote awareness of the Legal prescripts applicable to the PRASA Group.
• Actively contribute and participate in various committees and forums.

• Sound knowledge of the relevant legislation applicable to Legal fraternity.

CAPABILITIES:
Minimum Requirements:
• 4 Year Tertiary Degree in Law
• Admitted attorney
Experience:
• 10 Years’ Experience in the legal environment
• 10 Years as a Practicing Commercial Attorney
