JOB TITLE: Assistant Manager: Building Bridges and Structures (BBS)

Mission
To provide Facilities Management related services for all buildings, bridges, subways and related structures in KZN Region.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintenance management that involves the initiating, managing and control of projects.
• Manage all resources to ensure the effective utilization of operational capacity
• People Management by providing leadership, development, planning and management in line with current and future strategic business requirement.
• Health and Safety to ensure adherence to Safety legislation.
• Condition Assessment on infrastructure which involves the monitoring of water consumption at various facilities and control of all civil equipment allocated to the department. Notify Municipality on consumption requirements. Monitor consumption patterns to establish any irregularities.
• Management of Contractors by ensuring that the contractors are working safely, jobs are executed according to project specifications, management of contract budget, etc.
• Quality Management by ensuring adherence to ISO 9000 system.
• Safety Management System by ensuring that work is done in accordance with the Railway Safety Regulation Standards.
Knowledge:
• Basic survey instruments, Processes and functions within civil Engineering, Capital upgrades, Outsourcing, support services and buy-in services, Station cleaning and horticulture services ,Safety (Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993),ISO 9001 2000 (Quality standards and systems),Building regulations and standards, Assets Maintenance ,Asset condition monitoring, Station Operations, Water accounts and Budgeting.

Minimum Requirements:
• Grade 12
• National Diploma in Civil Engineering
• 3-5 years’ Experience in Civil Engineering or Building Environment
• Must be a qualified Technician
• Drivers’ License Code 8
Added Advantage:
• B-Tech in Civil Engineering
• Eligible to Register with ECSA
