​The Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) is a statutory body established in terms of Act 59 of 1995 (as amended) for, inter alia, the creation of conditions for the development and the promotion of equal use and enjoyment of all the official South African languages. PanSALB seeks to appoint results-driven, assertive and dedicated individuals to fill the following position.

In terms of Sections 76 and 77 of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (PFMA) and applicable Treasury Regulations, the Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB) invites nominations of suitably qualified and experienced persons to serve as independent members of its Audit and Risk Committee.
 
Role of the Committee
The Audit and Risk Committee is an independent advisory body that provides oversight on the financial reporting and internal controls, risk management and governance processes, compliance with legislation and regulations Internal and external audit functions.
 
Requirements for Nominees
Candidates must: Be South African citizens with no conflicts of interest, Possess a relevant qualification in Accounting, Auditing, Risk Management, Finance, Law, ICT, or Governance (minimum Bachelor’s degree; postgraduate qualification advantageous), Hold a professional designation such as CA(SA), CIA, CISA, CFE, or equivalent, Be affiliated with a recognized professional body (e.g., SAICA, IRMSA, IIASA, SAIPA, ACFE, Legal Practice Council), Have at least five (5) years’ experience in Audit, Risk Management, Financial Management, Governance, or related fields, Demonstrate knowledge of the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and public sector governance, Previous experience serving on an Audit and/or Risk Committee will be an added advantage
 
Term of Appointment
• Three (3) years, renewable subject to performance and Board discretion
• This is not a full-time appointment; members will attend at least four statutory meetings per year and additional meetings as required
 
Remuneration
Members will be compensated in accordance with PanSALB Board Remuneration policy. As outlined in paragraph 5 of the of Treasury Regulation 20.2.2, Employees of organs of State serving on Commissions or Committees of Inquiry or audit committees are not entitled to additional remuneration.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO)
FIVE (5) YEARS FIXED-TERM EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT
REMUNERATION PACKAGE: R1,813,182 to R2,135,835 per annum
(All-inclusive package, of which a portion can be structured according to the individual’s needs)

LOCATION: Head Office (Pretoria, Arcadia)
 
REQUIREMENTS: • An appropriate NQF level 9 Qualification Master’s Degree – preferably an MBA Qualification or Human Sciences or Humanities • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in an executive or senior leadership role • Strong understanding of the Public Sector environment, including engagement with all spheres of government and community-based organisations • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable legislation (e.g., PanSALB Act, PFMA, Treasury Regulations, Public Service Act) • Demonstrated experience in financial management, strategic planning, performance management and organisational turnaround • Ability to build a performance-driven organisational culture • Sound knowledge of language rights, linguistic policy, research and national language development priorities * Proficiency in at least three official South African languages will be an added advantage.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Provide strategic and executive leadership to PanSALB’s administrative staff, provincial offices and structures.
• Enable the Board to fulfil its governance mandate and achieve strategic objectives.
• Lead the development and implementation of organisational strategies, performance standards and annual plans.
• Establish and enforce clear authority levels, systems and sound people management practices.
• Strengthen strategic partnerships and collaborations nationally and provincially.
• Drive initiatives that promote community participation in language development and protection.
• Ensure effective communication and reporting to the Board, its committees and the relevant parliamentary portfolio committee.
• Serve as the Accounting Officer, ensuring strong financial governance, budget planning and effective resource utilisation.
