ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, TOURISM AND AGRICULTURE DIRECTORATE
DEPUTY DIRECTOR: STRATEGIC PROJECTS
(STRATEGIC PROJECTS)
POSITION CODE: 240451
TASK Grade 16 (R750 600 – R1 043 532 per annum)
(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

Qualifications and experience required:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (Preference will be given to applicants qualified in Project Management and Developmental Studies).
  • Minimum of five years’ relevant experience.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
 
Key attributes and competencies:
  • Project management skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
  • Supervisory and report-writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet critical/conflicting deadlines.
     NB: A valid Code B driver’s licence is an inherent requirement.
 
Job purpose:
Managing and directing the key performance areas and outcomes through identification, planning, implementation of strategic projects with high impact and visibility, aimed at attracting tourists, attracting and retaining investments and thereby creating jobs and alleviating poverty as part of the economic development and growth strategy, and as contemplated in the Integrated Development Plan.
As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.

INFRASTRUCTURE & ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE
TECHNICAL ASSISTANT
(WATER DISTRIBUTION ADMINISTRATION)
POSITION CODE: 240450
TASK Grade 9 (R327 600 – R455 460 per annum)
Basic salary only, excluding benefits
 
Qualifications and experience required:
  • Relevant Technical/Architectural Diploma.
  • One to two years’ experience.
 
Key attributes and competencies:
  • Monitoring and compliance to regulations and functions in the Section.
  • General administrative duties.
 
Job purpose:
Coordinating and performing tasks/activities associated with the provision of a technical support service to the Water Distribution Section through verification of installations and connections reflected on building plans, identifying deviations of legislation and performing administration functions (maintaining accurate master plans) for the Section in accordance to Departmental instructions and requirements.
