PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTORATE
SUPERVISOR/DRIVER (TWO POSITIONS)
(ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT)
POSITION CODE: 250561
TASK Grade 7 (R270 132 – R375 564 per annum)
(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)
 
Qualifications and experience required:
  • Grade 10 qualification.
  • Pest control certificate.
  • Valid driver’s licence with Public Driver’s Permit (PDP).
  • Twelve months’ relevant experience.
 
Key attributes and competencies:
  • Required to work in all weather conditions.
  • Required to bend, stretch and lift machines of up to 20 kg.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
As part of the selection process, the recommended candidates will be required to undergo a medical examination at the Municipality’s Occupational Health and Safety Division.
 
Job purpose:
Performing specific tasks/activities in a designated area associated with environmental services using heavy vehicles and transporting personnel/materials to and from site, communicating and clarifying requirements with respect to the processes and correcting deviations in work related sequences.
As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.

SAFETY AND SECURITY DIRECTORATE
EXAMINER: DRIVER’S LICENCE
(TRAFFIC AND LICENSING SERVICES)
POSITION CODE: 250527
TASK Grade 9 (R342 348 – R475 956 per annum)
(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)
 
Qualifications and experience required:
  • Driver’s Licence Examiner’s Diploma.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid Code EC and A driver’s licences.
  • One to two years’ relevant experience.
 
Key attributes and competencies:
  • Incumbent must be physically fit and able-bodied.
  • Must have interpretative skills and understanding of Acts and Regulations applicable to the functionality.
  • Incumbent must have oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
 
Job purpose:
Performing the activities associated with the examination, testing and issuing of learner/driving licences through the application of prescribed procedures, attending to administrative processes and legal requirements to ensure drivers conform with the requirements of the Road Traffic Act and regulations contributing to the safety of all users.

  • Valid Code EC1 driver’s licence – Public Driver’s Permit (PrDP)
  • Crane Operator’s Certificate.
  • Tree Maintenance Course.
  • One-year relevant work experience.
 
Key attributes and competencies:
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 kg.
  • Ability to operate chain saw and other specialised equipment.
  • Mentally alert to perform and be aware of all possible dangers.
 
Job purpose:
Undertaking tasks/activities associated with overseeing tree maintenance operations involving trimming/cutting branches, pruning/felling trees and attending to specific requirements associated with work programs in accordance with laid down instructions and safety regulations and performing related administrative functions supporting accomplishment of service delivery standards/objectives.
