INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE
SENIOR SUPERINTENDENT
(WATER AND SANITATION - WATER DISTRIBUTION)
POSITION CODE: 210138
TASK Grade 12 (R408 432 – R567 852 per annum)
(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

Qualifications and experience required:
• N3 Water and Waste Water Treatment and/or National Diploma and/or BTech in Water Care.
• Valid Code EB driver’s licence.
• Computer literacy – Office application.
• Five years’ relevant experience.
Key attributes and competencies:
• Good organizational, problem-solving and supervisory skills (essential).
• Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
Special conditions attached to the post:
• Have Class IV as per Department of Water Affairs’ classification of Process Controllers.
• Physically fit and able bodied.
• Perform stand-by, week-end and public holiday inspection duties.
Job purpose:
Co-ordinates and controls the operations of the Waste Water Treatment Works through the application of laid down procedures with respect to the monitoring and correcting works performance, interpretation of analytical results, conducting of tests and analysis, controlling the activities of personnel and providing guidance on applications in order to ensure optimum functioning levels are maintained and, downtime and disruptions to services minimized through the introduction and execution of appropriate corrective measures.
As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, a medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
