INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE
MANAGER: WASTEWATER
(WASTEWATER TREATMENT)
POSITION CODE: 210139
TASK Grade 14 (R517 584 – R719 580 per annum)
(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)

Qualifications and experience required:
· National Diploma in Water Care or B Tech in Water Care.
· A valid Code EB Driving License.
· Class V Process Controller.
· Professional Registration with Department of Water Affairs
· Five years’ relevant experience.
Key attributes and competencies:
· Computer literacy in Office Applications.
· Good organisational, problem-solving and supervisory skills (essential).
· Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
· Physically fit and able-bodied.
· Required to work after hours in emergency situations.
Job Purpose
Coordinates and controls the operations of Waste Water Treatment Works (Water Reclamation) through the application of laid down procedures and specifications with respect to the monitoring, conducting of tests and analysis, controlling the activities of personnel and providing guidance on application in order to ensure optimum functionality levels are maintained and, preventing environmental pollution (e.g. to aquatic life) to the Department of Water Affairs &Forestry watercourse. Co-ordinates and controls the effective operations of the Waste Water Treatment Plant and distribution systems through analysis and interpretation of requirements and provision of guidelines, planning and implementing process and maintenance intervention, assessing the applicability of changes, adjustments or the introduction of new approaches and ensure procedures are complied with and key service delivery objectives are accomplished in terms of the National Water Act and Water Quality Guidelines, south African National standards (SANS 241:2005 Edition 6 ), Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act).
As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, a medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
