SAFETY AND SECURITY DIRECTORATE
MANAGER: OPERATIONS AND RESOURCES
(FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES)
POSITION CODE: 210193
TASK Grade 14 (R517 584 – R719 580 per annum)
(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)
Qualifications and experience required:
- A Tertiary qualification or equivalent preferable National Diploma in Fire Technology.
- Four to five years’ experience at operational/management levels within Fire Services.
- Incumbent should be physically fit and able bodied.
- Clear understanding of legislative requirement on operational plans.
Key attributes and competencies:
- Must have knowledge of Incident Command System Principles.
- Must have an understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
- Incumbent must be physically fit and able bodied.
- Must have good presentation, report writing and supervisory skills.
- Must be able to work overtime during specific unplanned emergencies/disasters and be on standby for work.
- Valid Code 14 Driver’s License with PrDP (Professional Driving Permit).
- Required to be on stand-by.

- Supervise and control: Conduct appraisal to measure performance, Analyse statistics information.
- Operational coordination: Align functions and key deliveries.
- Situational command: Assess and monitor situation to establish control
Job purpose:
Coordinates and controls the procedures, operations and critical outcomes associated with the Operations and Resources Management Division through the alignment and implementation of functional plans and objectives, monitoring productivity and performance and addressing deviations and, implementing standards and operating practices that support quality, professionalism and preparedness of the fire stations to respond immediately to emergencies in the region.
As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
