Qualifications and experience required:
  • Three to five years’ relevant experience required.
  • Grade 10 or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Relevant driver’s licence; and
  • Basic computer literacy: MS Word/Excel.

Job purpose:
Applying procedures and guidelines associated with the provision of support and monitoring of minor works by establishing applications for execution, preparing basic drawings and estimate, conducting site inspections, participating in site meetings and making available routine information or approved technical guidelines for implementation, organising responses to queries/enquiries, and attending to minor works records update and reporting requirements in order to ensure progress and compliance information/observations against scope of the contract is checked and communicated to enable evaluation and/or the determination of appropriate corrective measures for implementation.

ELECTRICITY AND ENERGY DIRECTORATE 
CONTROLLER: ELECTRICAL (TWO POSITIONS)
(TECHNICAL SERVICES)

Qualification and experience required:
  • N3 (Electrical) and Qualified Electrician or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • One-year relevant experience.
 
Key attributes and competencies:
  • The post monitors the power system via computer during a shift - must be able to react promptly and correctly when faults occur and to issue clear and concise switching instructions.
  • Ability to give attention to detail.
  • Good oral, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure without tolerance for errors.
The successful candidates shall be required to perform standby duties.
As part of the selection process, the recommended candidates will be required to undergo a medical examination at the Municipality’s Occupational Health and Safety Division.
 
Job purpose:
Performing duties with respect to the maintenance of the electricity supply on the 600 MVA load and 132 kV to MV electricity distribution network to all customers in the municipal area under normal operating and emergency fault conditions in accordance with the Electricity Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other appropriate regulations.

SAFETY AND SECURITY DIRECTORATE
DISASTER MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT
(DISASTER MANAGEMENT)

TASK Grade 6 (R255 768 – R355 584 per annum)

Qualifications and experience required:
  • Matric (Preference will be given to applicants with a Disaster Management qualification).
  • Valid Code EB driver’s licence.
  • Physically fit.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of and able to perform project administration (would be an added advantage).
  • Zero to two years’ experience.
 
Key attributes and competencies:
  • Oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a fundamental knowledge base of the most important areas of one or more fields or disciplines related to D(R)M (Disaster (Risk) Management), in addition to the fundamental areas and understanding of the key terms, rules, concepts, established principles and theories.
  • Supports and participates in disaster management operational planning.
  • Physical effort is required when the incumbent has to walk/stand/bend/run/lift objects (e.g. generators, food parcels, etc.), which may at times weigh more than 20kg.
  • During a disaster the incumbent may be required to work in adverse weather conditions, excessive noise and unhygienic conditions.
  • Mental stress is associated with sensitive 'disaster' scenes and/or exposure to social trauma. The incumbent must be able to work under such conditions.
 
Special conditions attached to the post:
  • Required to be on standby.
  • Required to work overtime during specific unplanned emergencies/disasters, or to attend meetings.
  • The physical attributes associated with this post necessitates that the incumbent is physically fit and able-bodied to perform the relevant functions, and as such, shortlisted candidates will be required to submit themselves to the Municipal Medical Doctor to be medically examined as part of the selection process.

Qualifications and experience required:
  • Examiner of Driver’s Licence Diploma Grade A.
  • Registered as an Examiner of Driver’s Licence on the Natis system.
  • Matric certificate.
  • Code EC and A driver’s licence.
  • Computer literacy.
  • One to two years' experience. 
 
Key attributes and competencies:
  • The incumbent must be physically fit and able-bodied.
  • Must have interpretative skills and understanding of Acts and Regulations applicable to the functionality.
  • Incumbent must have oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
 
Job purpose:
Performing the activities associated with the examination, testing and issuing of learner/driving licences through the application of prescribed procedures, attending to administrative processes and legal requirements to ensure drivers conform with the requirements of the Road Traffic Act and regulations contributing to the safety of all users.

Co-ordinating tasks/activities associated with the examination, testing and issuing of road worthiness certifications for all categories of vehicles through the application of laid down assessment and inspection procedures, attending to administrative reporting and recordkeeping requirements and guiding personnel with the execution of specific activities to ensure vehicles conform with the requirements of the Road Traffic Act, SABS standards and regulations contributing to the safety of all users.
