NATIONAL REGULATOR FOR COMPULSORY SPECIFICATIONS (NRCS)
The National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS) was established on 1 September 2008 in accordance with the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications Act. It is an agency of the dti, established to administer compulsory specifications and other technical regulations with the view to protect human health and safety, the environment and to ensure fair trade, in accordance with Government policies and guidelines. It is the NRCS intention to promote equity through the filling of posts, according to set Employment Equity targets. To facilitate this process successfully, an indication of race, gender and disability status is required.

Annual basic Salary
R 397 414.66 excluding benefits
Purpose:
To administer compulsory specifications and technical regulations on behalf of the Minister of Trade and Industry by monitoring compliance through inspections and/or evaluations.
KPA’s/ Key outputs:
- Monitor Compliance with Compulsory Specifications and Technical Regulations
- Appropriate sanctions for non-compliance
- Process Applications for Letters of Authority, Sales Permits and Certificates
- NRCS Quality Management System (QMS)
- Stakeholder relationships
- NRCS Committees
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- A valid driver’s license
- Must be willing to travel extensively
- Will be required to undergo training for 18 – 24 months
Knowledge and Skills:
Sound knowledge of the NRCS Act; Sound knowledge of the Legal Metrology act; Sound knowledge of the legislation and regulations related to area of specialty which may include but is not limited to the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act, Customs Excise Act, Police Act, PFMA, PAJA, SANS, ISO, Consumer Protection Act, Trade Metrology Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, National Road Traffic Act, Sound knowledge of risk assessments;
Knowledge of Quality Management systems;
Knowledge of inspection methods and processes; Knowledge of evaluation methods and processes
Behavioural attributes:
Report writing skills; Ability to use judgement; Problem solving; Planning and Organising; Action orientated; Deadline driven; Excellent communication skills – written and verbal

- Preferred candidate is African Female in order to meet NRCS EE targets as per our EE Plan.
