NATIONAL REGULATOR FOR COMPULSORY SPECIFICATIONS (NRCS)
The National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS) was established on 1 September 2008 in accordance with the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications Act. It is an agency of the dti, established to administer compulsory specifications and other technical regulations with the view to protect human health and safety, the environment and to ensure fair trade, in accordance with Government policies and guidelines. It is the NRCS intention to promote equity through the filling of posts, according to set Employment Equity targets. To facilitate this process successfully, an indication of race, gender and disability status is required.

Negotiable
Purpose: To lead and direct the office for area of responsibility including planning, executing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on operational requirement.
KPA/ Key outputs:
- Lead and Direct the Operations for Area of Responsibility;
- Stakeholder Management and Relations;
- Ensure Compliance of Products/Services within the Area of Responsibility;
- Implement Technical Regulations for the Area of Responsibility;
- Facilitate the Harmonization of Technical Regulations and Participate in National, Regional and International Forums;
- Responsible for the Accreditation of the Area of Responsibility (Quality Management)
- Participate in the Compilation of the Divisional Strategic Plan and Business Plan
- People Management;
- Financial Management;
- Corporate Governance and Risk Management
Requirements/ Experience:
- National Diploma in Food Science or Food Microbiology or equivalent in the relevant sciences.
- 8 years’ experience in the relevant field
Knowledge and Skills:
In-depth knowledge of technical regulations relating to area of responsibility; In-depth knowledge of compulsory specifications in area of responsibility; In-depth knowledge of the NRCS act; In-depth knowledge of regional, national and international treaties, trade protocols and mutual acceptance arrangements; In-depth knowledge of quality management systems; Corporate governance policies and procedures; In-depth knowledge of business strategy, planning and reporting process; Working knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA); Financial Management and budgeting; Management skills; Working knowledge of risk management; Presentation skills.
