NATIONAL REGULATOR FOR COMPULSORY SPECIFICATIONS (NRCS)
The National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS) was established on 1 September 2008 in accordance with the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications Act. It is an agency of the dti, established to administer compulsory specifications and other technical regulations with the view to protect human health and safety, the environment and to ensure fair trade, in accordance with Government policies and guidelines. It is the NRCS intention to promote equity through the filling of posts, according to set Employment Equity targets. To facilitate this process successfully, an indication of race, gender and disability status is required.

In terms of Sections 76 and 77 of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act 1 of 1999) as amended and read in conjunction with Chapter 3 of the Treasury regulations, the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications invites applications from interested and suitably qualified persons (individuals not entities) to fill one (1) vacant position on the Audit Committee.
Requirements – A minimum of postgraduate degree in the Information Communication Technology environment coupled with 8 years’ traceable experience in managing at executive or senior management level in large organisations. Be an independent thinker and knowledgeable with legal or regulatory prescripts governing the ICT environment. Display highest level of integrity and objectivity in his/her discharge of the assigned responsibilities. Not be a political office bearer and/or public representative serving either at national, provincial or local spheres. Have the best interest of serving the NRCS’ Steering Committee with dignity and demonstrate commitment as well as attend all scheduled meetings and positively contribute to the enhancement of the ICT environment.
Responsibilities: The roles and responsibilities of the ICT Steering Committee and consequently its members are clearly outlined in the Committee Charter and seek to achieve the following objective. To advise the Accounting Authority on:
- Key ICT government requirements in accordance with King IV Report on Corporate Governance and COBIT;
- Best ICT solutions and systems that will ensure the NRCS operates efficiently and effectively; and
- How to leverage on ICT systems to improve productivity and delivery of services.
Remuneration: The members of the Audit Committee are remunerated in terms of National Treasury prescripts and rates.
