Minimum Qualification
Honours degree or equivalent qualification in Risk Management/Auditing/Accounting/Economics or related field. Membership with the relevant professional body.
 
Minimum years relevant experience
At least 5 years’ risk management experience at Management level in a highly regulated operational environment.

Job Description
The Risk Manager will assist NRWDI to:
  • Establish an appropriate NRWDI Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework aimed at minimizing potential and real risks.
  • Develop risk management policies and processes, and plan, design, monitor, implement and maintain effective systems to identify, evaluate, mitigate and monitor NRWDI’s risks i.e., operational, strategic, financial, reputational, and compliance related risks.
  • Provide guidance and support to the NRWDI Risk Committee and Executive Management on risk management.

  • Managing risk reporting and monitoring.
  • Promoting enterprise risk management.
  • Participating in combined assurance.
  • Risk reporting tailored to the relevant audience.
 
Job Requirements
The appointed candidate will perform the following job activities:
  • Develop and implement an overall Enterprise Risk Management Framework and policies/ process for the Institute, which includes an analysis of the financial impact on the company when risks occur;
  • Continuously review and update the integrated risk management system for all aspects of risk across NRWDI;
  • Maintain an effective system of controls in line with the Enterprise Risk Framework;
  • Develop and guide the process of identifying risks at all business levels (Strategic, operational & process);
  • Facilitate the identification and rating of risks in line with the approved framework and policy;
  • Consider new developments or initiatives at NRWDI and assess whether there are any new risks facing NRWDI as a result of these, on a quarterly basis;
  • Consider new risks identified by internal audit and incorporating them in the risk register;
  • Compile reports and document proceedings of risk assessment sessions;
  • Compile Risk Registers/Risk Profile and ensure that these are updated by risk owners;
  • Compile risk reports for management decisions on the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures;
  • Advising and reporting on actual non-compliance, incidence and losses incurred;
  • Coordinating activities of EXCO (regarding risk management) or Risk Management Committee;
  • Promoting a risk awareness culture throughout NRWDI;
  • Develop risk communication and training programmes;
  • Store the risk information safely and in an organised manner for easy retrieval;
  • Collaborate and link risk management efforts with assurance/compliance/audit findings and internal control findings;
  • Advise the Board of Directors about the most significant risks to the business; and ensure Divisional Heads understand the risks that might affect their divisions; and also ensure individuals understand their own accountability for individual risks; and
  • Explain risks posed by stakeholders.
