At least 5 years’ experience in Communications and Stakeholder Relations, Public Relations and Media Liaison at Management Level

Job Description
The Manager Communications and Stakeholders Relations will pro-actively drive the stakeholder management, public relations and media liaison function by providing strategic leadership, support and advise to ensure integrated communications across NRWDI, manage and coordinate activities of internal and external communications and maintain stakeholder relations.
Key Performance Areas
The key performance areas of the role include:
- Development of communications and stakeholder engagement, public relations and media liaison strategies, policies, procedures and operational work plan;
- Promote and facilitate organisational prominence and reputation management both nationally and internationally;
- Manage and Monitor Media Liaison activities; and
- Coordinate Public Relations Events.
Job Requirements
The appointed candidate will perform the following job activities:
- Develop questionnaires and conduct stakeholder satisfaction surveys to measure public perceptions of NRWDI;
- Represent NRWDI on Stakeholder and Public Relations matters;
- Ensure co-operation amongst NRWDI business units with regard to the Stakeholder Management and Public Relations function;
- Provide regular management reports;
- Provide advice/reports to the EXCO on matters pertaining to NRWDI’s image and reputation;
- Identify opportunities for media exposure through articles, press releases, adverts etc;
- Develop and implement the media agenda/plan for the organisation;
- Provide content for and develop media releases, position statements, holding statements, editorials and opinion pieces for the organisation;
- Receive and respond to media queries;
- Conduct media monitoring and analyse the media coverage of the organisation;
- Take the lead on media crisis management;
- Facilitate and co-ordinate the development and implementation of events management policies and procedures;
- Develop the Public Relations strategy to increase the prominence of NWDI locally and internationally;
- Co-ordinate sponsorship activities;
- Develop the events calendar;
- Guide in and co-ordinate key events, i.e. campaigns, programmes, conferences, etc.;
- Develop and maintain the NRWDI stakeholder database;
- Build and maintain effective relationships with the organisation’s stakeholders;
- Advocate and influence stakeholders’ support for NRWDI’s projects and activities;
- Provide advice and knowledge to stakeholders;
- Provide guidance to the organisation in addressing issues related to stakeholder engagement, public relations and media liaison to ensure the implementation of divisional initiatives with due consideration to international best practices;
- Provide input into the compilation of the budget in accordance with policies, procedures and legal requirements;
- Manage costs against approved budget;
- Produce budget and compliance reports;
- Attend to parliamentary questions/inquiries;
- Prepare and present correspondence with the Shareholder (Minister’s office), the DoE and Auditor General at relevant meetings including Board.
N.B. Background verification, including criminal record, credit checks, security clearances, qualification and citizenship checks, as well as competency assessment, will form part of the selection process for all the above positions.
