POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCHER: BOTANY (24 MONTHS, R200 000 per annum) 
 
The Department of Animal and Plant Systematics at the National Museum offers a Post-Doctoral Research opportunity for a candidate with an interest in conducting research on African plant systematics. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct independent research, regularly publish the results of this research, curate and expand the herbarium collection, and support educational and outreach activities by disseminating knowledge in order to popularise their field of study. 
 
 
Qualifications:
• Minimum of a PhD in Botany. 
• A valid Code 8 driving licence. 
 
Experience:
• A strong taxonomic background is essential, with experience in genetics. 
• The candidate must be able to work independently, and must have published a minimum of two full-length first-author papers in DHET accredited scientific journals within the last three years. 
• Experience in the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) software will be to the applicant’s advantage. Work experience in a herbarium will also be beneficial.
