ADMINISTRATOR: APPLIED METROLOGY AND PHYSICAL & ELECTRICAL METROLOGY
Salary Range R 374 261 – R 440 307 per annum (all inclusive)
Overview of the Organisation
NMISA is a Type 3A Public Entity established in accordance with the Measurement Unit and Measurement Standards Act, No. 18 of 2006 (the Act). NMISA is mandated by the Act to provide for the use of the international system of units (the SI) and other measurement units in South Africa, to maintain national measurement standards (NMS) and to determine and ensure the comparability of the NMS. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) is recruiting for an Administrator position to support the Applied Metrology (AM) and Physical & Electrical Metrology (PEM) Divisions. This role is key to ensuring operational efficiency, governance compliance, and seamless stakeholder engagement while providing critical administrative and training coordination support.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- National Diploma in Administration/Office Management or equivalent qualification
- Bookkeeping skills will be advantageous.
- At least 5 years’ experience as an Administrative Officer or Personal Assistant.
- Strong computer literacy (MS Office, SharePoint, e-Workflow, e-Procurement).
- Excellent organisational, communication, and minute-taking skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- High level of professionalism, customer focus, and ability to work under pressure.
- Fluency and excellent writing skills in English.
- Experience interacting with senior officials, international counterparts, and business executives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide general and operational support to division directors, senior managers, and staff.
- Arrange and coordinate meetings, compile minutes, and follow up on action items.
- Prepare and format documents, presentations, and agendas.
- Coordinate both domestic and international travel arrangements, including visas, bookings, and logistical support.
- Process procurement orders, follow up on invoices, and liaise with relevant sections on expenditure.
- Manage records, archiving, and compliance with NMISA’s Total Quality Management System (TQMS).
- Oversee training programmes, workshops, and short courses – including scheduling, logistics, communication, and learner record management.
