JNR SCM AND LOGISTICS PRACTITIONER
Salary Range R 431 838 – R 508 045 per annum (all inclusive)
Overview of the Organisation
The National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) is mandated to keep, maintain and disseminate the National Measurement Standards and to demonstrate measurement equivalence for South Africa and the region with our main trading partners. In addition, NMISA is responsible for the correct use of the International System of Units (SI) in South Africa and to approve other units outside the SI for local use.
NMISA is a proud member of the dtic’s family of TI Institutes responsible for the Quality Infrastructure in South Africa.
The position:
The Jnr SCM and Logistics Practitioner will support the procurement and logistics functions within the organisation, ensuring that supply chain activities are executed in compliance with relevant policies and legislation. The role encompasses document management, procurement coordination, supplier and vendor administration, logistics handling, and general support to ensure operational efficiency and effective service delivery.
Major Challenges and Responsibilities:
Procurement Process Support
· Assist in preparing and administering Request for Quotations/Proposals (RFQ/P) and tender processes.
· Source quotations and support end-to-end procurement activities in line with SCM thresholds and regulatory requirements.
· Ensure compliance with PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and internal SCM policies.
· Maintain and manage SCM documentation, including scanning, filing, and uploading of tender and procurement records.
· Ensure accurate data entry on relevant systems and manage standard bidding documents and related correspondence.
· Arrange and coordinate SCM-related meetings and provide secretarial support to Bid Committees, including the preparation of minutes and terms of reference.
Supplier and Vendor Management
· Facilitate supplier registration, verification of compliance documentation, and database maintenance.
· Coordinate invoice processing and supplier payments, including commitment reporting aligned with regulatory requirements.
Goods and Services Verification
· Receive and inspect delivered goods and services, ensuring they meet specified requirements.
· Follow up with suppliers on delivery timelines and manage commitment schedules.
· Handle receipt and dispatch of customer instruments and calibrated equipment, ensuring timely job card creation and logistics execution.
· Liaise with laboratories to support instrument calibration processes and revenue cycle efficiency.
Customer and Internal Support
· Respond to internal and external client enquiries.
· Support customers in navigating NMISA systems, including registration, credit applications, and quote acceptance.
· Maintain and update the SCM and logistics dashboard, ensuring task allocation and completion.
Educational Qualification and Experience:
· A relevant National Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field.
· A minimum of 1-3 years’ working experience in Supply Chain Management or related field
· Knowledge in applicable legislation i.e. Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), PPPFA, Supply chain management policies, procedures, processes, Practices notes and Treasury regulation.
· Experience in procurement processes, vendor liaison, and logistics coordination.
· Strong administrative and communication skills.
· Proficiency in MS Office.

HUMAN RESOURCES PRACTITIONER (GENERALIST)
Salary Range R 544 587.32 - R 640 690.97 per annum (All inclusive)

THE POSITION:
To provide HR support to the organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for HR activities such as recruitment and selection, employment equity, labour relations, development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures, HR administration, organisational compensation and benefits, training and development and health and safety.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field
· Postgraduate qualification will be an advantage
· Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a generalist HR role
· Proven experience in handling HR compliance, policy and SOP development and implementation
· Proven track record of the submission of HR Audit submissions, Employment Equity submissions, WSP& ATR submissions
· SDF Certification will be an advantage
· Experience in payroll administration in an organisation where payroll is completely in-sourced (e.g. VIP Premier/SAGE 300 PEOPLE/CRS)
· Recruitment and selection experience
· Experience in handling grievances, disputes, and disciplinary matters
· Knowledge of job evaluation process and various job evaluation methods
· Performance management
· Competent in MS Office

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Talent acquisition (i.e recruitment and selection, onboarding etc.)
· Payroll processing
· Compilation and submission of EE reports and ensuring that EEC meetings are conducted quarterly
· Assist with ensuring that grievances, disputes and disciplinary matters and effectively managed
· Ensure organisational compliance with employment equity requirements and other legislation
· Coordinate performance management process including, guiding new employees on

JUNIOR SCIENTIST: DOSIMETRY STANDARDS
Salary Range R 432 979.90 – R 589 421.00 per annum (all inclusive)

The Position
The successful candidate will be required to maintain National Measurement Standards for ionising radiation and disseminate traceability from these standards to industry, thereby supporting South African trade.
Minimum Qualifications, knowledge and Experience
· An Honour’s degree in Physics is a minimum requirement
· Up to five (5) years working experience in an ionising radiation field (Dosimetry and/or physical nuclear applications)
· Working experience in calibration of relevant equipment used in the nuclear industry/radiation field will be an advantage
· Proven hands-on experience in using and calibrating equipment used in dosimetry measurements will be an advantage
· Computer literacy in MS Office is essential
· Experienced in producing accurate scientific reports
· Working knowledge of the total quality management system (ISO/IEC 17025 will be an advantage)
· Understanding of statistical applications in measurements, estimation of uncertainty and preparing of uncertainty budgets will be an advantage.
· Registration with professions organisations such as SACNASP, METCERT or HPCSA will be an advantage
Responsibilities:
· Maintenance of measurement standards and disseminating traceability to industry through calibration of measuring equipment relevant to areas of responsibility
· Assist to develop new and/or improve measurement capabilities in dosimetry measurements
· Requisite expertise and competencies established and maintained according to internationally acceptable standards
· Liaise with international NMI’s and perform international comparisons as relevant to the areas of responsibility to maintain the confidence in the equivalence in capabilities between National Metrology Institutes
· Keeping abreast with international developments in Dosimetry and/or neutron dosimetry and identifying standards in line with the needs of the South African community for radiation dosimetry
· Client liaison, quotations and problem solving to ensure the dissemination of relevant information and effective contract review
· Actively participate in regional and international forums to ensure global competitiveness.
· Writing of procedures in the areas of responsibility
· Ensure that all scientific reporting is accurate
· Maintenance of personal training file to ensure ongoing record of competence.
· Comply with the requirements of the NMISA TQMS to ensure process consistency and effectiveness
· Maintenance of a radiation safety culture within the area of responsibility
Person Specification:
We are looking for a dynamic, positive thinking individual, who has the ability to manage complexity, attentive to details and meticulous during measurements, documentation and reporting. A unique individual with strong need for compliance to ensure strict adherence to relevant policies, procedures and safety regulations within the laboratory environment and the organisation. Independence and pro-activeness in order to plan and direct own work activities and meet the full requirements of the position at an acceptable level. The candidate must have the ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
