The National Lotteries Commission (NLC), a Scheduled 3A entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), is a statutory body established in terms of the Lotteries Act (Act 57 of 1997), as amended with the purpose of regulating South African Lotteries and administering the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF). Suitably qualified prospective candidates who are South African citizens are invited to submit their applications to fill the position listed below. FORENSIC INVESTIGATOR
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The National Lotteries Commission (NLC) invites applications from dynamic and detail-oriented professionals to apply for the role of Forensic Investigator within the Internal Audit division. This role supports the NLC’s mandate of good governance and transparency by investigating potential fraud, financial misconduct, and irregularities affecting the organisation.
SALARY SCALE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- B-Degree in Forensic Auditing, Accounting, Auditing, Criminal Law, or LLB (NQF Level 7).
- Certification as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Forensic Practitioner FP(SA) will be an advantage.
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ operational experience in forensic investigations, fraud risk management, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, audit principles, financial systems, and investigative techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
KEY DELIVERABLES:
- Assist in planning and conducting forensic audits and investigations.
- Execute forensic audits aligned with NLC’s internal policies, methodologies, and relevant legislation.
- Compile investigation plans, letters of engagement, and detailed case assessments.
- Conduct site visits, interviews, and root cause analysis to identify fraud or control weaknesses.
- Draft high-quality forensic reports with findings, risk analysis, and recommendations.
- Support disciplinary or legal processes by preparing case documentation and providing expert input.
- Engage and collaborate with stakeholders, including law enforcement and regulatory bodies.
- Promote awareness and training initiatives related to forensic audit practices.

FORENSIC INVESTIGATION SPECIALIST
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The National Lotteries Commission (NLC) invites applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Specialist: Forensic Investigations. This is a senior role within the Internal Audit component, focused on leading and supervising high-impact forensic investigations, ensuring integrity, transparency, and accountability across the organisation
SALARY SCALE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- B-Degree in Forensic Investigation, Auditing, Accounting, or LLB (NQF Level 7).
- Certificate or Diploma in Forensic accounting / Digital forensics / fraud examination / fraud risk management.
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Forensic Practitioner FP(SA) – compulsory.
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in forensic/fraud investigations, with at least 2 years at a supervisory level.
- Expert knowledge of relevant legislation, audit methodologies, legal practices, and forensic investigation procedures.
- Strong skills in stakeholder management, financial analysis, case management, and reporting.
KEY DELIVERABLES:
- Lead and implement forensic investigation plans and methodologies in line with ACFE guidelines and legislative requirements.
- Analyse and investigate complex financial records, transactions, and potential fraud or misconduct.
- Supervise forensic investigators and manage co-sourced forensic projects.
- Conduct site visits, interviews, evidence analysis and report writing.
- Ensure investigations are completed efficiently, documented thoroughly, and reported to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, Chapter 9 institutions and oversight bodies on escalated matters.
- Drive continuous improvement in forensic audit practices and tools.
