GUIDELINES TO APPLICANTS 
1. If you meet the requirements, kindly forward a concise CV to The relevant Practitioner/Administrator (Human Resources) by email. 
2. Response Email addresses of the relevant HR representative and or Region is supplied at the end of each regional adverts. The onus is on the applicant to ensure that their application has been received. Incomplete applications and applications received after the closing date will not be considered. 
3. Any credentials of the contract of employment will be subject to criminal record checks, citizen verification, financial record checks, qualification/Study verification, previous employment verification, social media accounts behavior/comments verifications, competency/psychometric assessments, signing of performance contract on appointment, signing of an employment contract on appointment, presentation etc. 
4. All health professional roles may be subjected to further assessment in line with the applicable proficiency matrix to determine the correct level and or grade. 
5. The NHLS reserves the right, at its discretion, to remove the advertisement and or not to appoint. 
6. Internal employees are required to complete a period of twelve months in current role before they can be eligible to apply for transfer. 
7. Proof of registration with a Professional body (e.g. HPCSA, SANC etc.) and other supporting documents should accompany all applications.

Key Job Responsibility:  To work with and within a team of NHLS staff/grant funded staff to deliver efficient infectious and non-communicable disease POC testing service at national level.  To develop and prepare short term and long term plans and budgets for POC testing services, in line with the organization’s goals and objectives.  To manage and coordinate the implementation of Point-of-Care testing for the NHLS and NDoH.  To foster close relations with the National Department of Health and various partners and stakeholders in order to allow for a close collaboration to ensure improved HIV/TB and other health care services for the public sector.  To monitor and evaluate the implementation programme in order to ensure accurate data reporting.  To collaborate closely with relevant partners to ensure adherence to algorithms, continuum of care and strengthening of health systems.  Ensure that all activities and operations are performed in compliance with local and state regulations and laws governing business operations.  To support POC translational research  To oversee all quality assurance aspects of POC testing services at national level. 
 
Minimum requirements & key competency:  Qualified as a Medical Scientist or Medical Technologist  Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Scientist or Medical Technologist (preferably Clinical Pathology)Certification in point of Care testing ( desirable)  8 Experience In infectious diseases and common non-communicable diseases in laboratory diagnostics  5 years experience supervisory/management experience within the pathology environment  Experience in the Public Health Sector working with point of care testing  Experience working with point of care and relevant Donors (desirable)  Exposure to general business processes (desirable)  Exposure to budget development and grant funding(desirable)  Knowledge of public health processes and procedures in SA  Strong knowledge of HIV/AIDS/TB and common non-communicable diseases  Knowledge of Finance and budget processes and procedures (desirable)  Knowledge of good clinical laboratory principles and practices  Knowledge of business objectives and processes (desirable)  Knowledge of DoH structure and processes (desirable)  Interpersonal skills  Communication skills (verbal & written)  High level Presentation skills  Client Management skillsComputer literacy skills  Problem solving / Conflict management skills Service and Budgeting skills  Deadline driven  Ability to work under pressure  Certification in point of Care Testing (desirable)  Strong and leadership qualities  Ability to influence and impact (desirable)  Ability to manage a team and work together in a team  Valid driver’s license (Code B or C1) and own vehicle.
